    Re: my new tenere.....

Thats the first 5000 miles, and so far no problems. had an oil and filter change at its 600 mile running in service, and then at 3000 miles - about £18 for the oil and filter and half hour of a saturday morning. managed to strip the thread of the bottom bolt on the oil filter cover, Js Gedges stripped it down and put in a timeset (??) so its fine.

its bloody slow but to be honest you just ride it accordingly, its good on fuel and its nice having a 260+ mile fuel range. handles well enough and so far the finish is holding up, but the real test will be a winters use. the seat is the only thing that stops you riding non stop all day - its painfull....

I have the genuine yamaha panniers and top box, centre stand, handguards and metal bash plate. I've fitted a scotoiler, autocom and garmin zumo, and I really couldnt help myself so ordered a set of leo vinci sbk exhausts which I'm told give the bike a bit more oomph... I hope.

nothing broken, nothing really needing adjustment other than the chain just the once so far mind.....

    Re: my new tenere.....

Hiya, got my new tenere on the 2nd of july in blue from earnshaws in yorkshire, a pre-reg with 0 miles and with panniers bash plate and engine bars on 0% for £5399 which i think is a pretty good price as i'm no good at haggling, i have done 400 miles already and am keeping it well below 4500 rpm (following the book to the letter).

As with the seat i agree, but i have a feeling its the pants i wear that cause the discomfort, i wear tight boxers and i think its because when you sit they squeeze on the old thighs and over a couple of hours its like chinese water torture!! I have a sheepskin for longer journeys and its cracking!

The speed, well it goes as quick as i need it to, i cover a lot of miles but i generally cruise about but it gets past cars when i need it to, but having never had the luxury of having a big engine i dunno what i'm missing!! It handles great feels really solid on the ground and i feel confident getting it over into corners.

It doesnt turn as quick as my gasser though!!

    Re: my new tenere.....

Oh Also due to me not living near yorkshire i cant get it up there for its free 600 mile service i spoke to them and as long as i use genuine yamaha oil filters i can do this service myself as long as put the reciept in my log book it will not invalidate my warranty!!

You guys have got me green with envy!

If only I had the extra dosh for one of these bad boys.
I think it'll suit me better than my TA, but I cant complain about the trannie she's a good bike.

So anybody wanna trade? She's an 03, very good condition, one owner, never ridden in anger or the mud.......

You serious about this comment? Pal of mine has a low mileage 700 TA and finds it a bit on the short side for his lanky bod. doesn't do astro miles so seat should not be a prob for him. I'll mention it to him anyway in case you weren't joking.
