Re: my new tenere.....

I sold my AT and replaced it with a Tenere. Loved the styling, loved the weight difference but was worried about the potential vibes and how good it would be for touring. After doing a 600 mile trip I can now say I love it. I rode for 280 miles until needing fuel with no effort and no need to get off to rest my backside. Headlights are better on the AT though but thats about all. Was and am still worried about the difference in build quility. Honda rae good as we all know. We will see. Tenere great bike for miles and off road and crises at 80 happily with no appreciable vibes to worry about.

Not sure they ever will, and if they do then it'll probably be a great hulking beast with a 1000-1200cc engine in it to try to match the "possible XTZ1200". Sounds like you're happy with the lighter xt660Z so why change

Re: my new tenere.....

just hit the 20,000 mile mark yesterday. had the chain and sprockets replaced at 16500 miles along with the sprocket nuts as the chain jumped off the sprocket and mullered the sprocket carrier nuts. yamaha have also replaced the cush drive rubbers under warranty as they were knackered.

engine wise its fine, but I had to strip the front end and regrease the head race bearings, there was very little grease from new also I think the heat from the engine and the oil in the frame is drying out the grease.

As Vader will no doubt tell you....... it wouldnt start in Germany at the elephant rally which was moisture in the coil. bit annoying but I've not had a problem since coming back. Maybe it was the moisture and extreme cold.

I tend to sit everywhere at 80 mph and it seems ok so far

The biggest gripe is the quality of finish - its poor to say the least.... there is corrosion on the spokes, brake line banjo bolts, various bolts and the frame is just starting to corrode behind the front wheel.

other than that its fine..........
