    my new tenere.....

hello, well went and bought a new xtz660 tenere yesterday, test rode it and god is it slow after the tiger.......

like i say the tiger is brilliant but sooo bloody unreliable, also got offered £2500 which after a bit of pressure went up to £3000 but was told to put it up privately for £3500. had i sold it for £2500 I would have lost nearly £6000 in 2 years. I will be selling all the extras seperately if anyone is interested.

one of the reasons i got a tenere is does 70mpg, it only cost £4800 new, plus boxes, centre stand, bash plate, scottoiller and handguards so if i do the same mileage in the next 2 years i will only lose £2500, service intervals are the same but much cheaper, tyres are £80 a set cheaper and chain/sprokets and brake pads are cheaper and should last longer.

i told the triumph dealer if i get 5 or more warranty claims on the tenere in the next two years i will buy another tiger 1050 - I'm that confident of its reliability............

One of the blokes up our way has just sold his 1150GS for one of these, he seems very happy so far
I really like the look of them but not a big fan of singles.

    Enjoy.

Good luck with the Yam, Sean.

It;s a massive change from the Tiger and i hope it does the job for you, it'll be interesting to see how the single stands up to the mileage you do..

    Aye Sean,

I really fancied one of these but with the amount of two up touring I do I didn't think it would make the grade. Be interesting to see how you get on with the Yam mate, keep us informed with what it's like to live with as the miles pile on!

I went down the Varadero road, cheap as chips to buy and Honda reliability. Never heed the fact it's the size of a supertanker, big is good! I'm off over West Scotland next weekend with it so I'll put up a report and some pics.

Best of luck Sean, I'm reasonably confident it'll not give you the problems your Tiger did, I worked with a Yamaha dealer for a while and they're pretty reliable.

    Wow!

That's quite a change, especially considering the mileage you did on the Tiger!

It'd be really good to know how you get on, as I'm struggling with regards to an alternative to my Tiger (not that I'm selling it yet, but I'll probably look at replacing it end of season next year).

I'm looking for something that'll do lots of onroad miles, but will still do relatively tame off-roading as well, and it has to be light!

Keep us posted, and to quote DC: PICS?

    Re: my new tenere.....

hi , ive got the new tenere and love it , yes its not going to win any drag races on the road then again lets see a gixer 1000 get across a muddy field, but it will start and go forever 65 to 70 mpg yep it will do that 23lt tank will take it just under 300 miles and it will sit at 80mph allday long , yamaha have just put the price up to £5599 as of today , so 2nd ones will hold on to their value more , it was hard for me to pick between the new transalp 700 or the yamaha t660z tenere , at the time i couldnt get a test ride on a transalp or the tenere and ended up buying blind since then ive tested the transalp , they are both great bikes ,off road the tenere wins on road the transalp just gets it because of the seat , thats more because iam getting old and fat lol
