Quite disappointed, I'm not sure it's worthy of the Tenere name. I've no doubt it'll be a super roadbike, but as a trailie there's a few issues - huge price, 261kg wet weight, 19inch front wheel, 190mm suspension travel.

It's gone a bit too far down the Tiger/Varadero route for my liking, by which I mean that I'd love one as a roadbike/tourer, but for a rtw and overlanding, no way.

£13,500 for the base model (£2500 over a BMW Gs1200 Adventure) + panniers etc, guess yamaha can poke it up their arse at that price..

I can get a new 1050 tiger and a 675 street triple for that price......

Oh well the first edition sticker has sold it for me, but 13.5k they're 'aving a laugh, wait two years and you'll pick up a decent second hand one for 4k

A similar spec Beemer equates to roughly the same price... for a bike which is now a few years old, will be interesting to see if perhaps yammi and beemer get into a price war

ITs water cooled how can it compare to a BMWGSA? you have to worry about radiators and coolant if you go off road.

It might look better in the flesh as pictures make it look bigger than what its is.

lol, J nearly as easily buggered as those rocker covers on a GS and the shaft drive burning out if you go off road

    Re: 2010 Super Tenere

Have to say I'm not sure about the bike, I'm pro Yamaha so I guess I should be gushing how wonderful it is, how its the best thing since the motorcycle was invented and all that.... but.

I feel the design sells out the 'Super Ténéré' ethos a little to capture a market with PR, if the bike is worthy it would be nice if it had earnt that title rather than stole it, but then as a owner of several S10's I guess that's a comment to be expected.

As for the bike, its well engineered with lots of new innovation and features which I am sure will give the bike an edge over the GS to buyers that want technology and state of the art design. I also think that this will appeal to the more affluent and less adventurous adventure bike owner (yes that bank manager and shrink market that have grown out of crotch rockets!!) who have cash to burn (oo sorry that should be disposable income) where ability is not the goal over presence and presentation.

The glitch comes with the idea will this bike steal sales from the GS of buyers who aren'tt Ewan and Charlie wannabes... who buy and use the bike, who actually venture away from the tesco's run and far flung trips to the office just down the motorway... I think not.

+10 on that Jenna ! I'd have this over a GS anyday, but I do actually use my bike offroad and stuff, so that means I wouldn't have it in the first place
I'm sure they'll sell heaps, or at least they would if the price wasn't so high, it'll be very interesting to see what impact that has.
