From Honda Trail Bike Wiki
There is a huge amount of information on this site, and as time goes by we need to strip it out of the forum and place it here:
Site Rules
Administrator/Moderator Guidelines
Sensitive Information
Members of the forum should remember that the site is open to visitors, and as such, sensitive information should not be posted, this includes personal information (names, addresses, dates away from home, email addresses, phone numbers) and also vehicular information such as registration, engine and frame numbers. These can all be used to forge ownership, potentially leaving an individual susceptible to fraud.
Copyright Protected Material
In depth information about copyright protection within the UK can be found on the http://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/ pages. But as a general guideline, offering copies of copyrighted material, such as Haynes manuals will not be tolerated. Making copies of copyrighted material is illegal, and this site and anyone involved in the running of the site may be liable if illegal activity is condoned.
Uploading Images
Uploading pictures to the forum can appear to be quite hard initially but the guide covers the subject quite well.
For Sale and Wanted
This area of the site is for the posting of wanted and for sale items to do with motorcycling.
All posts in the area will expire after 30 days, and will be automatically removed.
The people involved in the running of this website have no responsibility for any transactions that take place, and if you are at all unsure it is suggested that you use http://www.ebay.co.uk to buy and sell your items.
Searching the Forum
vBulletin has an excellent search facility but some simple things can be done with normal URL links if you know what area of the forum you want to search. For example:
Search the whole forum for new posts with http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/search.php?do=getnew
Search the whole forum except the jokes section with http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=44
Search the bike only section with http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=30,58,42,53,36,55,56,29,59,41,44,31,39,38,47
The secret is in the &exclude= add the forum numbers you don't want to search to make your own search link.
Reporting Forum Posts
There will be times when the content of a post will be questionable in your opinion. There are two options when this happens. You can either jump into the discussion and express your opinion or (the better option) report the post to the site staff. This is easily done by clicking on the warning triangle on the top right hand corner of each post.
When this is done, an email is sent to every member of staff (over 20 of them), essentially setting the alarm bells ringing, ensuring that the reported post is dealt with quickly. Normally, the thread (or post) will be checked and (if necessary) moved to an area of the site where the entire staff discuss what's to be done. If in doubt, click the triangle! Of course, only the site staff will know that a postt has been reported, and who did it.
