Guess the title says it all; have you Alp owners tried the TET North (Tynemouth to the Lakes area, via Hexham, Alston etc.) Wondering if it's a little too much for the Alp?
Eveyone is telling me a CRF250L or Rally // WR250 is the better choice!
Thinking of spoiling the old machine and replacing the 21year old rear shock.
The YSS units that Wemoto sell seem to get great reports when fitted to the little CRF250L, so I was thinking of trying one out.
Anyone on here tried one on a 600 Alp?
I have prices up a Wilbers for it as well -...
Does anyone know the actual real wet weight of the 650 Alp? Ive got all kinds from 191kg to 225kg!!! Also, anyone aware of any 'known' issues wiht the 650 or things I should be aware of if buying?
Cheers all, much thanks!
Just wondering if this is normal on a 650 Alp - there seems to be a serial / engine / VIN number party visible on the clocks - Not sure what or why it’s like that you’d think the entire number should be seen????
My 700 Alp has now been gone for 4 months and during a clean out of the garden shed I came across the original cat box that I removed. I also have the Honda touring screen that came with the bike. If anyone is interested in taking these off my hands then they are yours for free. They will need...

Insured, taxed and dragged out of my brothers pigeon loft where it's been resting since early September last year (shocking, I know...) after a 24hr charge, dust the bloom of, kick the tyres, prime the carb & she started first prod.
Yay, great to be back out on an Alp [emoji41]

600 Alp - Loaded test run
Well, after over 400 miles since yesterday morning, I think I can safely say that the 21 year old Alp is fairly sorted. Took a 120 mile run over to the Red Squirrel camp site at Glencoe Saturday morning and met up with a fellow Alp rider.
Red Squirrel camp site...
Got the Alp on the road today and I'm already missing the throb from an after market exhasut can fitted to a V-Twin engine. Had a Laser Pro-Duro on my last one and the sound was wonderous :D:thumbup:
So . . . . . anyone got a half decent exhasut can for a 600 alp that they'd be happy to part...
Following the theft and subsequent recovery last March of my old transalp 600 (in pieces).
I'm now gearing up for a project.
I have most big parts from my alp here with a frame from a bike a friend broke for spares.
As this will never be/feel like the same bike it was, I'm planning a few...
Photos of my Alps strip down, clean, oily rag refurb & rebuild . . .

Has anyone out there got an un-wanted centre stand for a 600 Alp (mines a '98 model, but earlier ones should fit)?
Checked with that excellent source of new Honda parts, David Silvers, and apparently the stand is no longer available.
The after market availability of a stand is very patchy as...
My 04 650 alp has clocked 31,400 miles from new and is still on the original chain and sprockets, I know the green zone wear indicator will only be a guide to chain life but in the five mil. width the green has I still have one point five mil. left. Also the difference in chain play only varies...
Hi All, I'm doing a quick trip to Brisbane to pick up a doner Trans Alp and need to pull front end and swing arm / rear wheel off to fit on a pallet for shipping to Darwin. I will be cutting the frame to fit it on as the frame is bent and i have a spare. Just after some info on what tools i may...
I took my 2008 700 Alp out today for a 30--40 miles run seeing as the sun was shining, at last. After a not too hard a thrashing whilst heading home I rode through the local town. Whilst amongst the slow traffic I thought it sounded a bit lumpy once or twice. A quick blip of the throttle seemed...
Just had the Alp pass its mot with a couple of expected advisorys. 1. Wear on rear tyre and 2. Front brake pads worn. Me and 3 mates are doing the NC 500 in May so now is a good time to get the bike fettled up. Been looking at getting some Goldfren ceramic carbon pads with sintered metal in...
Hello, I have been off this forum for a few years as I traded my 700 Alp for a 650GS and then a CRF250M, but have decided now as there is nothing as good as a Transalp, I had to go back to the one I loved!
Received my 55 plate XL650V today in the snow, and have started looking at what needs...
I've had my 700 Alp for about 3 years now and have really grown to love it. One problem I've had though is that at high speed, 95 mph + the steering would get very light, especially whilst carrying camping equipment and a full top box. Whoever had the bike previously had dropped the forks about...
Hi all, just asking.... my alp developed a "clicking" which initialy i thought was transmission related but have now established it is front end as it dissapears on using front brake. Especially notable on slow cornering. i am about to take the front wheel off and inspect wheel bearings and will...
