I just thought I would share a proud dad moment with you.
My teenage son is currently working on a work experience programme connected to his education as a bike mechanic.
His boss let him have his first go at welding and this is the result.
Not a bad attempt for someone who started working...
I just performed an oil change on the FX650
Drained out of the frame, crank case and filter housing.
I put exactly 2.15L of oil in (10 minute interval inbetween)
Bolted everything back up and checked the oil level, it is almost the entire length of the dipstick
I'm aware the oil check ritual...
If you put the bike on its centre stand, grab the back wheel and attempt to lift wheel up and down, should there be any play????
I'm getting a few mm of play, and was wondering if this is normal or a sign of wear somewhere eg Linkages etc
Just fitted a Mitas E07 on the front of my AT ( my first attempt at tyre changing ) and I'm having a bit of bother getting the bead seated ( not a single pop yet :( ) . I'm tried six or seven times on my compressor using loads of lube and taking it up to 60 psi with the tyre valve core...
Just got a pair of Mitas E07 s for my Africa Twin which I plan to fit myself ( it's my first attempt to fit tyres ). I ordered tubed type but they 've sent me a tubeless rear. Question is will the tubeless be harder for me to fit than the tubed type ?
Thanks for any advice :thumbright:
Seeking a numberplate/taillight holder to fit my RD07. You know the black plastic thing that holds the tail light and sticks down out of the back of the bike. Am attemptng to sex up the look of my bike and want to give it a shorter rear mudguard/numberplate/taillight holder/rallye look. So...
In an attempt to make using my new bike on a more regular basis for work, I am considering biking jeans. Hopefully this will just mean slipping on helmet, jacket and gloves and I am away, rather than changing trousers for loathes etc....which can be a phaffff....
Has anyone tried / got...

So I can build an alternative seat for me and the missus when we go touring, and keep the original one well err original. The orignal being flat a slightly down pointy makes her slide forward when attempt a...
quick question going to attempt the valve clearances for the first time on the dr tommorow. as mine is a kick start model thus it has a manual decompression lever do i have to completely disconnect the actuation cable.
OK So we had a clear winner in the 24th August.
The problem that is that's one of the two dates we cant make it
So in a vain attempt to find another weekend that suits ALL of us I'll extend the dates out a bit on a new poll in this thread (I can only have 10 options on each poll)...
hi all. i was lead to believe that the forks in the pic below are cr500, but so far have not been able to find a caliper. if anyone can tell me what they are i'd be very grateful.
p.s. they came off a ts125r but wasn't sitting right so it was assumed it was a failed mod attempt

I know I have posted that before... in september/ oktober I will stay in UK for a month. The normal ride to get where I am staying is already round about 650mls. Now I was thinking... since my ass is going to hurt anyhow... 350mls more probably wont make much of a difference.
But since I...
I'm knocking together a stove adaptor to carry a trangia spirits burner. I involves bending aluminium rod.
I have a sneeky suspicion that if I just bend it as is, is could sheer.
Any suggestions on how to do it?
