backfire

So my 650 TA v4 has developed a lumpy 'pulsing' tickover and has started to backfire on startup a bit. It doesn't stall and runs fine when going though- still pulls well and mpg does not seem to have been effected.I thought I might be unbalanced cabs but I have checked them with a set of gauges...

Hi I'm experiencing some rough running whilst the engine is ticking over I think it's referred to as hunting, it also seems to miss fire occasionally on a steady throttle at around 2000 rpm with a soft sort of wet fart backfire on the overrun. Can anyone put there finger on a reason for these...

Hola! mY '04 TA backfires and pops when I let off the throttle. Just just started. This winter I rebuilt the vacuum actuated fuel valve and I installed a Scotoiler for the rear chain. Both of these pull vacuum from the nipple on the rear cylinder inlet. The bike never backfired before I...

This is now on the terrace. There is fuel in the tank but the battery only lasted about a minute but at least we got a backfire. The battery is now on charge. Do I need to alter the standard carb settings after putting bigger jets in for the free flowing carb It started after a bit of faffing...

Hi Lads - just looking for your thoughts on this... When doing around 80 - 120km/h on my @T RD07A, all is good with the engine, until I throttle back very slightly, say on a downhill to maintain constant speed, then it feels like the engine is jerking slightly/cutting out for very short...

Are there any thoughts on why my bike produces a vicious backfire on deceleration. It,s not a regular thing but when it happens it really is loud .I,m worried that someday someone might shoot back.Is there a possibility of the timing being slightly out .Any wisdom would be appreciated. Thank...

Hi everyone, Bike has been running really well but recently I have noticed (you can't really avoid it!) a rather loud backfire on deceleration. Yesterday when I came back from a ride I noticed that petrol was spilling out of the breather from the carb. I am fairly sure that this means a stuck...

Help needed! Went to fill up petrol today, pumped my tyres afterwords. I switched the key, started the engine and there was a loud bang. Sounded like a muffler bang/backfire but it was louder. The engine then died, as if it was weak and couldn't run on idle without 'help gas'. I managed to get...

My old XL1000V2 used to backfire on the overrun a lot so I took the exhaust system off and replaced all the gaskets, etc. including the infamous seal on the downpipe. This cured the backfire on overrun but I can still get the occasional pop if I blip the throttle. Any ideas what it might be?

And so it begins:D Just got myself a 2003 DRZ400 SK3 I'm getting some 'scare the pedestrians' backfiring. You get the occassional phut on the overrun, that I can cope with. But.... When you get the 'proper backfire!!!! It is not the type I've had on Boxers or the trannie, it is a very clean...

After working through the carbs and compression tests and manifold exhaust leaks the problem was solved adjusting the exhaust tappets. The manual suggest 0.12mm gap. There was hardly any play in the tappets so set them at between 0.15-0.20mm. It now idles perfectly and runs like a dream...

Hi lads I'm slowly getting depressed, as I can't make my RD07a run well again (since I blanked off the choke and synced the carbs last ye) I'm even starting to consider buying a new bike, that doesn't need all my attention every weekend ... but being a stubborn sod (and very fond of my AT) I'm...

Hi I need some help and advice on a 1985 Honda XLV750R. On overrun, the bike pops and backfires. It has a Marving exhaust (Italy) which is as near stock as I could get with no signs of leaking or blowing. I have tried rejetting the main and idle jets using 115, 118 main, plus 40, 42 and 45...

Just changed my exhaust to Remus...love the low growling sound i get from the bike now. I realized, however, that im getting some backfiring when decelerating. Didnt feel any leak along the joints of the pipe (i might be wrong). The carbs were serviced prior to the change to Remus...

Read on the xr250/400 mod thread about a backfire screen? I assume its the thing under the airbox, like a copper type plate with round holes in, with wire mesh at the bottom? Will removing this make the bike backfire? Backfiring is cool! I like fire:p

Ok, so I bought K&N Filter, I made two holes in airbox and I fitted dynojet kit. Firstly I mounted bigger nozzles (düse). When I drove it, it accelated like horse. From exhaust smellt like old car so I assumed that A/F ration is not ok. Then I mounted lambda o2 sensor on exhaust so I can check...

Hi All, I have a 2003 650. When starting it up in the mornings (with choke) I sometimes get a backfire. Is this normal? Does the 650 exhoust have a tendency to "cake up"? Thanks,

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum. I've found this community really good. I have a TA '07 with 9000kms right now. I had this motorcycle parked in a garage for about 5 months without use because of a cirurgy I had to do. With tank filled up and battery disconnected. I started to ride my TA...

Hello i have a 94 TA 600. when i change down the gears i get a small (few) backfires from my carpi days this was always cool... I know this is bad and shouldn't happen.. from my knowledge this is unburnt fuel in the exhaust pipe getting lots of cold air and burning..... other than it not...
