Today is the day the balance sheets are shown, so who recons beer, **** and petrol will go up as normal but how will it effect the rest of us beyond that? The country's in s**t state so i can't see much being given away but i might be surprised they are determined to keep to reducing the defosit...

Well so far the price is one snapped off fairing spigot and a mullered crankshaft cap. :( And the reason for all this? 32,000 mile service (4th 8,000 mile service) in which I have found that all the tappets are nicely in spec, the spark plugs are lovely so they've gone back in (new at the...

Further to my last thread ( free at last), Having done the rest of the service, i.e. , plugs, valve clearance, filter oil ect, it was balancing the carbs that made the difference. Before it sounded rough and spate back on light throttle and even stalled at lights. As soon as my pal put his guages...

Been thinking of rigging up a temporary fuel tank for when I need to balance the carbs on the TA. Saw on another forum (yeah, yeah I know - burn the heretic! :D ) where someone used an aluminium bottle as a fuel supply. I got said ally bottle from our equivalent of the pound shop (all of €2!)...

As I like the GSA so much and I can't see any reason to change it I'm thinking about dropping it out of the dealer network next year and save a few pennies by taking on the servicing myself. Now to read any fault codes, run tests on sensors and perform such tasks as parking the stepper motors...

Hi guys, my Ta650 has developed a real horrible noise at 5000rpm like somethings loose in the engine.. But its smooth below and pulls okay with no smoke and everything else is normal..well for my bike . Is it possible that as I dont normally rev this high that as its the max torque @ 5k that...
  14. XL
Is it possible to actually balance the twin carb setup that i have on my 86 xl600r? i know normally, you connect them to the vacuum lines like you do on an inline 4 bike but with these XL's, if you have one carb open after 1/4 throttle or so, can you still balance them as you would only have 1...

Hey, just thought I would throw this in here (I ride a 1999 rd7a). Noticed in the last while that the bike was not as smooth as I remember her being, so I checked the carbs. Turns out the jets were not set the same, so fixed that (went for the standard 2 3/8 out setting). Then she ran really...

I guess there are one or two items that are hard to find for the XL250s, I have tried a few times over the years to find a new balance chain but not come across one, when I was working at an engineering firm I checked all the chain catalogues to find an equivalent but the pitch is just too...

Hi I modded mine with an Inox oval exhaust by AQ. However if i let go of the steering column and try to balance my AT with me knees then i feel it lean over to the side where the chain sits. As if the lack of exhaust weight made it unbalanced to one side. Does anybody else notice this...
