I thought I would ask the forum collective if they have any tips they have for setting the timing correctly on the @ RD07a engine as I am planning my second strip down to fit a brand new output shaft original designed for the Honda Vt750 cruiser.
I originally split the cases a few...
Hi, my 16 yr old XL650 has a strange noise coming from the front cylinder bottom. It is audible when hot at idle rpm, it goes away when the rpm increases. The noise is NOT sharp(high pitched) like regular tappet noise , mine sounds like lightly knocking a hard object with a medium-light hammer...
i'm new to the forum !
My problem isn't a new one...
I've read about it loads on here.... well i think so anyway.
Its an extremely annoying ticking tapping sound, loudest at 3000rpm.
I only bought it 3 months ago (89' ta red and white, 52,000m) it had the sound when i bought it...
I have a 2002 Varadero coming up to 30K miles and I was wondering how the CCTs typically hold up on a Varadero? The CCT seems to be a bit of a weakness with Hondas. (Changed the CCT twice on my 53K Blackbird.)
I need some sagely advice as I am replacing the gearbox on my RD07A due to worn output shaft and have the engine stripped down just needing to separate the crankcase now. My question is when the cam chain tensioner tab is near the wear limit (max 6mm) does this mean the cam chain should...
Looking at possible replacements for my Alp, and I have to consider the Vara 1000. Just wondering though, I think the motor is similar to that fitted into the VTR1000 which were known to self distruct when the CCT's failed, have Honda over come this for the motor in the Vara 1000?
have just bought a 1999 Domi and it has problems with camshaft/rocker arms which i am replacing, the camshaft is out on the bench
but i cannot remove the assembly at the cam chain end, i think part of it is to do with the decompressor, i have a new cam shaft from David Silver...
Hi chaps, due to lack of a job and moving to a flat (no shed argh!)
I have to sell my beloved boys toy.
Its a 2001 Model which i gave a SERIOUS overhaul to last year.
Its had about 20 hours use since
So as its an XR the next overhaul needs to be in about 2050
Here is what she's had done;
Ive just returned from a 13 month holiday and the bank balance is looking very sad indeed.
This means that (unfortunately) im going to have to part with my baby.
What i would like from your well informed selvs is an opinion on the value.
Its a 2001 Model which i gave a serious...
Right, had a bit of a clatter with the bike (RD07a) recently and was told by different mechanics / AT owners that the problem was most likely worn cam chains (bike has 100k km on the clock) or, less likely, knackered big end. So, got the valve covers off (actually, I held the light and the old...
Just rebuildin my old xl 500r engine, and desperately looking after chain tensioner to it. Tried David Silver and CMSNL but no help :(
Does anyone of you have ideas that where to next?
hello to everyone!!!
Need help with this engine knock sound on my baby vara - varadero 125 engine knock - help! - YouTube
In workshop I was told this is something in first cylinder, but nothing more. Have new cam chain tensioner in case, but think this is something diferent..
To my great frustration, after getting the engine in the frame, I found a piece of rubber on the bench. Its a rubber cushion on the front camchain tensioner, part 6 here; OEM Motorparts - Honda - XRV750 - 1995 - CAM CHAIN/TENSIONER
Do I need to pull out the engine again, or do you think I can...
Had them replaced today thanks to a mate on the RFOC with a VTR 1000 (same lump, but I'm sure you already knew that)
The Vara came with 47,000 miles and no history, I was prepared to take a gamble for £1400!
It is a Honda anyway!
I know the rectifier(?) has been replaced and now these...
I fetched the cylinder head for my SLR650 back from SEP. They're good but not overly quick...
It has had new exhaust valve guides and a snapped exhaust stud spark eroded out. They did a cracking job and the build up of the head and re-assembly of the bike took about 5 hours. It was pretty...
