Dear all! Finally got the AT MoT'd and sorted thanks to IDP Moto and ex Honda dealer Daryll Young. It's got all the kit on to take on the Crosstourer SE (£13,500!) in next month's issue of Motor Cycle Monthly, but the running is still not perfect - probably due to the bike being stood for so...
  3. For Sale / Wanted
I keep looking on ebay for a used pair of Givi (or similar) hard panniers, but they either come without the mounting racks or are too dear - I'm a tight Northerner! ;) Seriously though I'm happy to part with some hard-earned for a pair that'll fit my bike. Thanks all. Mark.

First torrential rain and now snow Oh dear..
  5. Transalp
Noticed this the other day after getting back from my folk's place in Anglesey - That's the clamp holding the silencer onto the "hot-box" outlet and shouldn't look like that. Here's what it looks like form the other side - Yep, that clamp is clamping no more - it has rusted right through...
  6. Africa Twin
Dear all! You may know me from my 'Africa Twin not run in four years' thread - she's on the way to working, I promise you! In the meantime, RiDE has asked me to do a feature on the AT, and I wondered if you guys wanted to take part? Just questions and a possible pre-April 16th meet somewhere...
  7. Wheels, Tyres & Tubes
When I bought my Transalp last year it had road tyres fitted (BT45's) but I'm not all that keen on road tyres. So I have been doing my best to wear them out and fit some knobbles :toothy10: I already had a new Michelin T63 front in the garage so all I needed to do was to find a rear. I had been...
  8. Africa Twin
1998 rd07a, after 2 years & 40,000miles of trouble free riding (fuelpump, rectifier aside) today... my girl started whispering a rattle in 2nd gear. I don't thrash her, regular serviced, well looked after, oil, filters etc. All other gears are fine, chain & sprockets good. So, just wondering is...

Dear oh dear. Seven dead. It stands to reason that if people were maintaining stopping distances appropriate to the conditions it couldn't have happened. It's foggy here this morning so be careful out there and take another ten minutes.
  10. XR
Dear All My 1992 XR600R keeps missing/cutting out. I never really have the throttle flatstick, i but it seems every time I do the problem starts within about 1/4 mile. The first sign of cutting out was when I'd cleaned the air filter and and forgot to refit the side panel. I got home, fitted...

  13. Ride Reports and Pictures
I went out for a trail ride on Sunday with my mate Steve on his 950S, we decide to head for the Begwyn hills in Wales as he had never ridden there before. After having to charge my battery we had a steady ride over and no dramas until we got near Hay-on-Wye and noticed that all the roads were...
  14. Varadero
Now that a few Varaderos on here have passed the 100k mark I am looking to get one next summer to replace my current Africa Twin which will go into semi retirement (and by god it's earnt a rest). May I take this opportunity to thank all owners for testing their bikes on my behalf for the last 10...

Just a quick note, as I'm off out tomorrow morning, for the next 10 days or so. Some of our MC, including me, are attempting to be the first to ride, what we call over here 'Route 88', (details at: - project route 88). I'll be driving up to Bacolod City in the north of our island...
  16. Mechanical Advice
No biggy, brake light not working off rear pedal, on closer inspection its not likely to as the spring has snapped......Doh other than that a couple of advisories.....1...exhaust excessively loud (yeah right), 2....Chain too slack (don't know how many times I've got to tell this guy NO ITS NOT)...
  17. Transalp
I have been to the local stealer and am now in posession of a brochure for the new Alp, I like it and have been offered a pre reg new bike for £5999, is that a decent deal? I will haggle for more (free heated grips and centre stand at least) before I am ready to sign on the dotted, just need to...

  19. Riding
Dear Deirdre, I'm having trouble with self-esteem. I'm 41 and my Trannie is 8. We have been in a relationship for about a year now and we bonded through the Winter, repeatedly getting wet & slippy together and having safe fun. Today was a dry-tarmac day in London, cold with blue skies. My...
