dipstick

    Quick question: How regular should engine oil be topped up to reach the middle of the dipstick again. Seems my RD07A needs a top up about once a month. Shes not smoking visibly and runs pretty good.

    Hi, could some kind soul with a XR400 measure the length of the stem on their dipstick for me? I have one of those that reads the temperature on my XR650L and I cannot get a clear reading on it, I wondered if one from a 400 will fit? cheers, Bob.

    For an XR 650L I have a temperature one from XR's only, but a new one is $40 + $27 shipping!!!! Can I get one over here??

    After a long motorway ride I have sotted a slight mist of oil around the filer cap, not a leak as such just a trace, I am guessing that there should be an O ring fitted in the recess that the filler cap/dipstick screws into. is there meant to be an O ring there?

    coming back from a 500km trip I apparently managed to run the oil-level of my Rd07a below the dipstick. Oil pressure light did not light up, though. Although I don't really believe that this caused damage, any comforting words from knowledgeable folks would be appreciated ;-) Cheers Chris

    Hi there my biking chums. Anybody struggled getting their finger and thumb to undo the oil filler / dipstick on a TA700? Well I found an old cricket stump in the dark corner of the garage. Sawed a 6mm wide x 12mm deep slot in the end and proceeded to undo a very tight oil filler. Works a treat...

    Ok - this isn't actually as dumb as it sounds, so stick with it. When I rebuilt my engine (some 27 miles ago, and still going strong!), I put in the manufacturer's recommended amount of oil (3.x litres, IIRC). Then, due to a 'build bug', I had to remove the clutch, and out came a load of oil...
