  2. Rear light relocation program

    Africa Twin
I really love the looks of the AT, but to me the rear light and plastic protector don't do the bike justice. So I relocated the rear light to sit flush with the fairing and removed the plastic protector (I know, not practical, but hey, stripe of dirt on the back adds to my image...) Original...

  4. Motoz tractionator adventurer for XRV 750 RD07

    Wheels, Tyres & Tubes
Hi guys, I'm looking to get some more agressive tyres for my XRV 750 RD07 1996, as I will be riding a lot of sand and dirt here in Australia. I have until now run Mitas E07, but would love a bit more grip in the sand. I am looking at a TKC 80 for the front. Interested in the new Motoz...
  5. Made in Spain or made in Japan

    Dominator / FMX
The question has been raised here about build quality on the Montessa built models. I've recently been buying NOS parts for my fleet and they come in the original packaging. I have found that all chassis parts come in bags that say "made in Spain", but all engine parts come in bags that say...

Just left The Image Works with a free run on the graphics and personally think they nailed it... Time to get it dirty
  7. Carb Compression spring

    Dominator / FMX
Rebuilding the carb on FX650 - first time off the bike. Needed to as a crack in air filter body had let dirt into the carb. Have question about Vacuum Chamber compression spring It came out with the tight coil springs closest to the carb body (ie DOWN) All the parts fiche and manual images show...
  8. Rode off road!

    Dominator / FMX
Having recently replaced the Bridgy BT45 tyres on my Dommie with a more dirt-friendly Conti Escape, I took a detour off road today. Nothing strenuous, I don't have the skills for it, just some marked Byways around Hertfordshire. Good fun, and a useful escape route if I'm ever a fugitive on the...
  9. Rear shock protection

    Varadero
I noticed after a very long ride on a muddy/dirt road that my rear shock was getting plastered with mud. Quick and easy fix was to install a small strip of rubber, using a single zip tie. Works well, cheap, and only minutes to install. BEFORE AFTER
  10. Super lightweight luggage carrier for dirt bikes

    Travel
Pretty amazing and the more I look at this kit, the more it makes sense for a super lightweight option on a enduro type machine or those not wanting 2cwt of steel and ally luggage rack!. Home — Green Chile Adventure Gear
  11. Cleaning the engine...

    Mechanical Advice
Hi there, I am currently building a Honda SLR scrambler/tracker (what ever is the right term for it, I'll find out once I've finished it). I need to clean the engine, because it has 18 years worth of dirt and grim on it, and looks as though some one has spray canned it silver in the last few...
  12. Head bearing q

    Dominator / FMX
Hello all, just had mot done on the dommy and it failed on head bearing. Not a problem but on its last mot 1500miles ago it failed on head bearing ???? Is this normal ? I use it say 10% off road not crazy just dirt tracks etc Anyone else had this ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Varadero fender extender

    Bodgers Corner
I'm thinking of making a homemade fender extender for my Varadero. It seems if the front flap was about 10cm longer it would protect the engine from all salt, dirt etc splashes. Has anyone done this and how did you do it?
  14. Triumph 800 steering head bearings grease em quick

    Triumph
My friend Al bought a new 800 now with 4500 miles and has never so even looked at a dirt road and the head bearings have a nasty notch right in the middle. Keep a close eye on them. Probably over tightened and under greased at the start.

  16. If you had to chose

    Africa Twin
This is the scenario: You have to commute 140 km daily. You chose to do it on an XLV (say from 92-93) or an XTZ 750 (same age). Which do you chose and why? Note that on the home journey you may be find time to take the longer, dirt road route, home!

  19. SLR holding back - feeks like fuel starvation or water in carb?

    Dominator / FMX
Hi fellow SLR/Dom/FMX fans. I'm in need of some collective wisdom. Up until relatively recently the SLR has been going like a good-un. However it now keeps missing, not misfiring but more stuttering/holding back intermittently as if there's water/dirt in the bowl. It happens in all the gears and...
