Alri Lads, My stater to Reg/Rec cable fried. I cut the melted plug off to show to my local hardware/mechanic to get a new part. My dumb ass forgot to label the wires before I cut it off. So Now I dont know which wire goes where. I dont think it matters which goes where but I'd like to see...
  2. Dominator / FMX
Hi Guys, I'm not being lazy honest, just being dumb. What heated grips from Oxford fit the Dominator? Ihave tried my good friend Google but he just confuses me more. What version did you guys fit and do I need to trim them etc. Going to order a set before the prices go back up.

Before I go spending £30 plus postage on a braided hose for my rear brake, I was wondering if I could use the piece of braided rubber oil pipe that was left over from fixing the line from my oil tank to the cylinder head to replace the hose from the rear brake resevoir to the master cylinder...
  4. Dominator / FMX
Hi guys, When I changed my front brakes a while back I think I put the speedo drive back together wrong and broke the plastic cog part. Friday when jacking the bike up to take the back wheel off I smashed the left mirror as I jacked the bike into the wall of my house:rolleyes: Just wondering...

Did not meet it's reserve on fleabay last night. Looks in good condition, I kind of like the colour scheme. The owner says the chokes are fine, sprocket is ok, rectifier and fuel pump are working. Any other things to check out on it? Owner is asking sub £2k. Ok it is 23 years old but 45k miles...

Sorry to ask so many dumb questions but hey, I'm new to the Dommie and new to trying to do my own maintenance. One day I'll graduate to answering questions for some other annoying newbie. Wheel bearings for the Dommie appear to be around £10 each from the usual suspects and head bearings around...
  8. Transalp
I know it is a dumb question, but which side of the fork oil seal should facing down?
  9. Africa Twin
Went out to start the AT ('97) after fully charging the battery and nothing, nada, niente. No lights, no sound , nothing. Now, I'm ignorant when it comes to engines so please bear that in mind. Bike's been sitting for quite sometime but started fine early last winter when I ran it to make...
  10. Chatter
Been looking for an Amazon for ages, quite easy you'd think living in Sweden but theres a lot of crap being sold for relatively high prices. I just wanted a daily driver type, didn't care if the paintwork was bleached or blemished so long as it was a runner and solid. After checking tons of...
  11. XR
I know this seems like a dumb question. I've had bike lifts, hydraulic and wind up style one's, but I've moved to a way smaller place, gotten a smaller bike (XR 125) and I don't really have room for a full size lift. There's no easy way to get a centre stand onto the XR, so I'm looking for the...

Chain tension, I recall reading somewhere that it should be set 7cm below the swing arm on the sidestand. Is this about right? Oil level, I presume check this with the bike standing upright.
  13. Africa Twin
Under the seat is a funny little 'H' shaped tool thingy. I think it is to do with checking the chain tension. How does it work? Cheers, chunko'.

Hi, Is the choke nipple bit supposed to slide into the hole, or does it just press against it. Maybe a dumb question, but when i srew my choke cable in on the carbs I am unable to pull the lever. I have taken pictures but I don't know how to insert them.
  15. Varadero
Probably a dumb question but as it is from me, it's ok.... Sometimes, entering into corners, I get the feeling of the bike being a little "wobbly" is the best I can describe it. Those of you who know me, will know I am not a light weigth. Is it just a case of trial and error, make it the bike a...
  16. Accessories
Expertise and opinions please :-) I have bought an RD07a with side case holders, so I have decided to fit hard luggage, but I have hit a snag on the mounting plate for the top box. One site says this one Honda XRV 750 X/Y RD07 Africa Twin 99-03 GIVI Luggage - Monorack Kit with Monokey Plate...
  17. Africa Twin
Hi, This may be a dumb question but I was changing the spark plugs on my 1990 AT this morning. Everything was fine until i pulled at the lead on the RR cable and the cable came away with a pop while the spark plug cap/seal stayed where it was.. I see on the cmsnl site that these are seperate...
  18. Everything Orange - KTM
Ok it's dumb question time...... I've just bought a KTM 450 EXC-R although it was advertised as an EXC. So what's the difference is it the Race spec version? Does it have tweaked parts or just set up differently? There may be a few more dumb questions coming as I get used to the bike.
  19. Ride Reports and Pictures
Well a frosty and sunny Start at AlfordJ 0800 start and sun just getting up, Only one of these vehicles uses Diesel J This picture taken with the i-phone before I put it into the water proof bike mount, apologies for the crap pictures that follow, looks like the flash was on and reflected...
  20. Transalp
Hi All I'm taking the 700 to Germany next week and remember reading in the forum somewhere that the 700 has a directional beam. Does this mean potentially I will need one of those duff plastic beam redirectors ? There seem to be no guidelines on the lense to show where they would go. Thanks...
