  1. Fright of my life.

    Chatter
I got the fright of my life today.:rolleyes::rolleyes: I made plans to take my sons bike to the local testing centre to get it approved for Danish plates. When I was on the way I thought I noticed the steering head bearings felt a bit notchy when I used the front brake. Flying along at...
  2. Nearly squashed a Mini today !!!

    Chatter
On my way to work today I had the misfortune of getting upclose and personel with an upperty Mini driver. Gabalfa roundabout in Cardiff is usually very busy early in the morning and late in the afternoon, and with five exits each having 2 or more lanes it can be a bit of a nightmare. I wanted...

    Transalp
(Mods if there are a similar thread somewhere please merge - I searched but found none) The Honda XL700V Transalp is a great bike to ride and own. It's reliable, comfortable and a lot more capable than most people thought it would be! This post is not about singing this great bike's praises...
  4. Deer oh deer

    Transalp
Chaps Brown-trouser moment with a live piece of venison last night. Swinging my way through corners at about 60 - as you do - on a spiffing ride out last night up near Dunecht, when a young buck decides to leap out of nowhere and stops still in sheer fright about 10 feet from my front wheel...
  5. Ground clearance

    BMW
These's not as much on the GSA as I thought. I've just had the left peg AND the side stand on the ground. I must admit I wasn't expecting it to touch down quite so soon and it gave me a bit of a fright. At least that side of the tyre can be considered scrubbed in :)

  7. Nightmare journey

    Chatter
Honestly guys, just want to let off some steam about my journey to and from work yesterday. It started off quite normally, left home early on Monday morning by car to start my usual 2 1/2 hr commute to Skye. Nice dry conditions, frosty, but dry -- road dead quite that time of day, well before...
  8. Easy pootle turns to hell

    Ride Reports and Pictures
A bit of a fright. I finally got ViewRanger installed onto the phone today, plus 640mb of ordnance survey maps of Ireland, the complete set, so to test it out I decided to take a bit of a spin towards the Burren in Co.Clare and use it to find some archeological sites. I found one or two...
  9. I hate bikes!

    Chatter
As those of you who were at Jelly's will know I had some electrical problems with my bike over the weekend. I hate electricity, if you have a fuel/oil/coolant leak you can see it, if something is broken you can see, it but electricity moves around your bike under the cover of a multi-coloured...
  10. Handling/cross winds

    Transalp
I have and '05 Alp and I was out yesterday for a run, on a road that I have ridden many times. The front end started to feel vague on the turn into corners. I first noticed it on a fast right hander just as I was about to turn in and did get a bit of a fright. I stopped and checked tyre...
  11. Requiem For A Biker

    Chatter
Friend just sent me this and I thought I'd repost it here: I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But, you didn't see me, put an extra £10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you, pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But...
  12. Honda Cub Riders Manual....

    Chatter
The attached instructions are apparently from a 1962 Honda Cub riders' manual. 1. At the rise of the hand by Policeman, stop rapidly. Do not pass him by or otherwise disrespect him. 2. When a passenger of the foot hooves in sight, tootle the horn trumpet melodiously at first. If...
