Following the theft and subsequent recovery last March of my old transalp 600 (in pieces). I'm now gearing up for a project. I have most big parts from my alp here with a frame from a bike a friend broke for spares. As this will never be/feel like the same bike it was, I'm planning a few...

Never been interested in fuel range before , but started to ride my bike more on the roads to get to green lanes further away , and i was impressed be the mpg. standard gearing and fuel system/air box (well 165 main jet ) and i got about 60 mpg , that was a mixture of green lane and urban riding...

Can anyone recommend hand guards for the above bike. Snapped my hand brake lever ( but managed to manufacture a mock-up for now) Looking at the twist grip there doesn't seem to be provisions for fixing a two point gaurd, which I would prefer (more solid) It seems to be a closed off tube...

My current sprocket setup is -1 front and +3 in the rear. I like this, but I'd like to get better mileage on the road and I want an OEM 16T front for reduced wear on the shaft. Thinking of changing my chain and go to just +1 in the rear or should I go with the stock 46 tooth rear sprocket?

Hi there, Not a lot said in the forums about gearing on the CRF230f. I bought my bike ( a 2007 model ) with the standard 13/50 set up and I could not believe how low geared it was. I am now running 14/47 and it has transformed the bike and to make it even better I'm about to go for 15/47. Any...
  8. Transalp
I swapped the Bandit for the Transalp mainly because the Transalp is SO MUCH MORE comfortable. I did of course test ride the Transalp before I bought it and I knew immediately that it was different! It has taken me a three weeks or so to discover how different. For starters the gearing is so...

Hi everyone, I couldn't find any answer, because in all topics I found everyone asked about larger front or/and smaller rear sprockets in order to get more speed and (questionably) more fuel economy. I travel practically always with my wife on the back seat and the second thing is that we do...

Ok I'm running 16/49 sprockets and find that it's perfect for town and trail riding but seems too buzzy for motorway/fast road riding. What do you guys run ? Thinking of running a 47 on the rear, Any thoughts ? Cheers Bob

I have standard gearing on my RD03, & I'm going to ride the 1000+ miles to the Elefantentreffen at the end of January, which would be a good compromise gearing wise, 1 tooth less or 2 teeth less? Only changing the rear sprocket as I have a genuine Honda one on the front & I wouldn't change that...
  12. Varadero
Wanting to increase the gearing on the Vara, not many sprockets are available nor much info on the net. JT don't list a 17t for the Vara, ebay only list Protec which need to come from the States Wemoto list a Sunstar (Sunstar supply sprockets & discs to Honda) 17 front so I ordered one, which...

Hi all I am having trouble locating the idle mixture screws on my carbs. Can anyone help me out pls? The bike surges when cruising at low speeds in any gear and also misfires when you blip the throttle when gearing down. Nick

What is the standard length of chain and how many teeth on the sprockets for my 94 Dommie? I have seen them for sale on fleabay with 108 links and 110 links. I would like to keep standard gearing but wouldnt mind a bit faster acceleration at the expense of top end speed. Is x-ring...

As some of you know from my tracker thread i am finding it hard to "bond" with my Dommie project but I dont know if I am expecting too much . Now I never thought the bike would be fast but I was expecting to get to about 90mph and be able to lift the front wheel in low gears . so am I just...

Hello; I've had this lying around in the garage for a few years now. Story is, I borrowed a mates Fazer (he is in Oz) to do a two up tour of Europe for a couple of weeks (I had a wee sportsbike at the time), the bike needed a new chain but I went and bought chain and sprockets, as you do...
