I finished my chainoiler bodge. I put 200 miles on it today and it works surprisingly well. What it ISN'T is pretty. My bike is a 1990 Transalp with many Africa Twin bits. It's like this because the ATs were never imported to cruiser-happy America and poor sods like us have to build our own...

Hi guys, Recently a friend of mine got real pissed when he sent his bike to his local garage for a servicing, when he got the bike back from the shop, he realised that one of the mechanics "nicked" his OEM Africa Twin tool kit, which is pretty much a common practise for them over here in South...

As the mods that Gordon did get referred to almost constantly for an XR I've copied them here for posterity and stickied them. The source was the XR400 Yahoo group. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/xr400/files/%21%21%21%20Gordon%27s%20XR400%20Mods%20%21%21%21/ So let's use this thread for...

This is a great piece of kit that I bought whilst in the States a couple of years ago for $45 (about £30 at the time) but it is available online. Basically it’s an additional fuse box that enables you to quickly and easily power any additional accessories you want to put on your bike. I...

Quick question on Touratech panniers, has anyone bought Touratech panniers separately from the corresponding pannier rack, and if so was the mounting hardware supplied with the panniers, or did you have to buy these separately ?.

My local cheapo hardware shop is selling these for £1! How cool is that! At that price Dave could get XRV ones made up. And they even fit easily into my topbox.
  8. Mechanical Advice
Probably a stupid question but......when changing all my rear bearings last time home, I noticed the main retaining nut on the rear axial is starting to round off. Do I have to get an entire new nut and bolt set, or can I just nip down the local hardware shop/auto supplier and get a similar one...

I want to get some mirrors for the Aficalp and was thinking about the pattern ones from wemoto. I can see where LH mirror goes on to the clutch lever mount but I'm strugging with the RH one, how/where does it mount? I've looked at the microfiches but can't quite work it out, will I need...

Feel like I've made a start on making the bike my own after it spent the last few years in the careful ownership of Boboneleg; so it's about time I posted a pic or two... In case you were wondering what I needed the ali sheet for Standard rack and tool box Denuded! Made these two up from...

Okay, I guess folks got a bit sick of photos after every bit of dust was wiped off, but I did finish putting my bike back together and took it out on Sunday. Fantastic after 6 weeks of riding a naily TT600! Brakes are excellent and, more to the point, I know why they're excellent and I have a...
