As said in my earlier post my chokes are stuck. So I cant start the bike from cold.
I would prefer to get it running and take it to my workshop so I can work on it indoors. Workign ona bike outside is a vile business.
To get it running I have thought of using easy start, the Haynes manual is not...
I am looking for a carb insulator for an NX650 RD08. This has the shorter intake tube. My one is too long (a common complaint, I've found)
If anyone has a spare, I'll have it for cash or favours. :D
So I got hold of an FCR-MX 40mm carb from a CRF250R.
I am slowly working my way towards getting it to fit right without grinding off the decellerator cable housing or cutting the frame.
I am an intake boot off of an FX650. It fits but still need to check it out.
In the meanwhile I made a...
Since iv bought my africa 3 weeks ago i notice that the carbs are sitting offside on the engine.
At first i didnt pay much attention to it but when i tried to reassemble the airbox i noticed that the airbox sleev doesnt over-lap the left (rear cylinder) carb and actually the cylinder worked...
A friend of mine keeps getting bits in the bottom of xr 400 carb bowl, he's checked the petrol tap filter all seems OK put an in line filter as well, still bits.
Another friend of his has said they might be coming from the rubber air intake boot, myself I can't see how the bits would get sucked...
Does anyone know where would be the best place to source new air intake pipes. Mine have shrunk a bit and I cannot get them to seal properly. They just sit ontop of the carb intakes.
I have read that its a common problem.
the engine went in a treat apart from carb was a bit tricky to fit into xl frame with central shock, the air dremmel removed a bit of the frame... now my xl/xr hybrid goes like stink.. with a low enough seat height! I had to re route the intake from a massive k&n filter. one word of advice if...
hello again ,just had the airbox off and noticed that the rubbers didnt seen to sit completely over the carb itself, just seem to sit up to it instead of over, just if anybody has any tips to makesure they sits properly
oh and its an africa twin, just incase, thanks in advance, and happy...
Spotted this on my TA650. Same around both intake rubbers.
Bike runs perfect, does 55mpg and is standard apart from the Staintune legal can which has been on there about 4 years. The clamps are tight and valves/carb balance all spot on. The air filter is new.
Any ideas please?
Now rememeber guys that you will need to explain very slowly and clearly because I still don't really grasp the technical stuff. Use easy to understand words.
Mr Mabel has mentioned something about drilling holes in Twinkletoes air intake to improve performance. now I am very dubious about...
