Anyone here going this year to Catalonia in September?? I would dearly love to try a Spanish trip this year (my first time in Spain) and the idea of mixing it with some gentle off roading sounds great... I am tad dubious at trying this one as a newbie both on the HISS and riding in Spain... My...

…what else would you call the days that follow a 24 hour nonstop off road ride up and down the Alps peaks :eek1 ???? Nevertheless, the desire of keep riding the West Italian Alps was too strong to stop us from riding :p3rry. I arranged for my friend Jeff of Colwyn Bay Motorcycles in North...

Took a wee run out to Aboyne on Tuesday to get the cobwebs out. Lovely sunshine and mostly clean roads but a lot of salt which took a while to get off and make my Alp clean and salt-free. Another bright day today: Stonehaven, coast road to Montrose (coffee at Pucci's - I've been a customer...

Morning guys I've been using this forum for a few months now and thought it was time to register! It's been really helpful with a few things, but I seem to struggle finding out too much on a Tornado that I've bought. I decided to buy the bike for the winter period as my BMW car + Honda CBR...

Got to work today and there was a nasty smell of electrical burning. When I got the panels/seat off the culprit was the 30amp fuse holder. It had melted on the rec/reg side to the point of melting away the plastic on the immediatley adjacent wire and the holder/fuse itself was brittle and...

Well my 100/80W H4 bulb decided to fail last night on the way home from work. Thankfully it was the dipped beam element only so continued on the way with the 100W hi beam much to the annoyance of the cars. But I was wandering in the past year have there been any major bulb development? If...

In addition to hunting down this new electrical gremlin, I will shortly have the unenviable task of replacing my head races. A quick question. Which grease should I use? I have regular high melting point grease, copperslip, and moly grease. My guess is the moly grease. If not the moly...

Hi, I have a 2001 XL1000 and the starter motor can be very slow or will not turn. The battery current is good 11.6 to 12.6 and there is no particular reason for it not starting i.e. Temp as hot or cold makes no difference. I have changed the starter relay solenoid due to the previous one being...

i've heard cat litter can be used instead of rock salt. i have 2 posssible theories on how it works :- 1 it simply adds more grip to the slippy stuff. 2 it encourages all the local cats to p##s on it so melting the slippy stuff. if you have any more ideas please comment.

Hi again guys. Well I'm getting used to the bike now - did a 700km trip last weekend (couple of teaser pics attached courtesy of the lads on the trip) and loving it to bits. Still having some electrical issues though. Basically I am melting the plug (second one now!) where the three yellow...

I was getting blatted by the wind on fast roads on the way to the trails on the DRZ, so started lookin for ideas. The old GS650 Dakar screen makes for a good bolt-on but they're difficult to find. So... I bought some 4mm clear lexan (polycarbonate), a cheap heat gun and some M6 nuts and bolts...

I've recently purchased a new starter solenioid due to the old one melting(!) the fuse. Trouble is, the old one had a 30A fuse in and the new one has arrived with a 15A already in it. Does anyone know which is the correct one? Also, could this be a sign that something else is amiss in the...
