After a long motorway ride I have sotted a slight mist of oil around the filer cap, not a leak as such just a trace, I am guessing that there should be an O ring fitted in the recess that the filler cap/dipstick screws into. is there meant to be an O ring there?
  2. Wheels, Tyres & Tubes
I know its fairly simple and routine to repair tubes after removing offending nail from the tyre but how safe is the tyre if you use it a lot 2up or on long 70mph motorway runs? You hear so much about tubless, dont repair, only temporary etc but little about tube types. Do you need to plug a...

As you know ive fitted a 17 tooth front sprocket. Normally i switch over to resurve around the 160-168 point but this morning after running a tank back and forth to work i switched over at 199.3 :D This is not riding like im in a race nor riding like miss daisy sticking to around 60-70 mph on...

Seems to me that any excuse to get around the "spirit of the law" is currently in vogue - Sign error on M42 motorway may mean speeding let-off. If the signs were clearly indicating the speed limit currently in force, what does it matter that the font used on the display was not strictly...

Hi all, anyone got some useful insights into a DR 650? all day comfort, stiing on a motorway, economy, robust in a drop, quality of finish, all that kind of thing would help. Thanks
  6. Transalp

Just home, feelin odd. 5 mins ago, 80/85 on a dark motorway... out of nowhere... a big fecking duck heading right at me! Instinctively locked my arms & put my head down. The unlucky bird hit the acerbis handguard (HARD), then clipped my shoulder. Hit the bars so hard, felt like it turn full lock...

I use a RAM AquaBox with a Garmin Nuvi, I have sourced a USB power source for the SatNav, but can't seem to find a specific RAM Ball Mount for the bars. Images of the SatNav below; Anybody have any suggestions / pictures of a system mounted. Getting ready for a first real tour, and my...

She's seen me through adventures galore, not to mention my bike test and my first "proper" National. She's rescued a fireblade on more than one occasion . She's been (more than) tolerant of my amateur and at times incompetent riding of her. She's been neglected in terms of maintenance...

Hi all, looking at a replacement bike and both the KLE 500 and KLR 650 bounced onto my radar, now I've never owned a Kwak but heard the finish is worse than a Suzy is this true? ( or possible) and can anyone shed a little light on the models. In my mind the KLE is going to be a cheaper and...

This me me laugh. The pictures speak for themselves and are work safe but the commentary.... Well if you are at work I'd turn those speakers off. Blackvue camera; 44ton truck v Motorway lane hogger - YouTube

Home improvements: GPS bridge. Very much version 0.1 and needs a bit of work still as the point where it all starts vibrating madly sits squarely at the motorway speed limit. Obviously that won't do. Then there's the more outlandish stuff, a 4 meter telescopic lightmast. :mrgreen...

A strange thing happened on the motorway today. I was doing a little over the prescribed and after a few minutes, i felt the bike surge and then settled down again. This has happened a couple of times before, but it seems to pull really well, and has no other symptoms. I have ordered a facet...
  15. Varadero
My 98 varadero has developed a problem. Having leaving it for 3 weeks without using I wasn't too surprised to find the battery flat. It's a 12 old battery and didn't recharge fully overnight. I replaced the battery and fully charged it. Initially seemed fine again but after a 70 mile motorway...

Hi Peeps (Kymmy might be able to help too) I listen to Real XS (formerly Rock Radio - Salford based rock radio station) On the way along the M56 westbound or eastbound I lose the signal around the Frodsham Marshes, Ellesmere Port / Stanlow Oil Refinery etc between J12 and J14 The signal drops...

Ive just bought a 2009 700 Transalp rode the 100 mile ride home and its great Better than my 650ta on the motorway with a mere relaxed 80mph cruising speed wind no where as bad as the 650 on the whole I love it (so Far lol) Anyone using any offroad tyres on theres, there seems to be a limited...

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself before I begin posting. Just bought a 12 month old XLV700 after commuting through last winter on an XT660R I wanted something for easier motorway (holiday) work. Came with full luggage but I'll probably take it all off for everyday use and fit a givi...
