Hi, just aquired a 1982 XL500R, and found this site - so saying Howdy. Already know M6NTL from another site ;)
Its a UK bike, 17500 miles, not been on the road since 1996. All original, except the Micron exhaust system. Overall in used condition, but untouched, with all original...
Now before you class me as a "no nothing" newby remember that for the last ten years my motorcycles have been:
A: In line straight fours
B: Fuel injected
Now for the question:
Does everybodies Transalp backfire in a muted and not entirely unpleasant way on overrun and throttle closing...
Do "Alps" have rev limiters? I ask because earlier today I was doing a multiple overtake in a crawler lane going up a steepish hill, fourth gear I think, may have been third. I glanced down to make sure I was not too illegal as the area has been known to sport cameras from time to time. The...
Hello all, Middle aged macam here.
Anyone not know what a macam is by the way?
I'm in the process of changing my 10 year old Blackbird for a 7 year old Transalp with only 12k on the clock. I live in NE Scotland and hoping winter will stop soon.
I will be checking out the forums and site in...

I've spoken to some clever guys on...

I currently have an R1200 GSA which is brilliant as an intercontinental missile, but a trifle heavy on pistes. So I'm putting down a deposit tomorrow on a '55' XR400.
Stand by for a whole pile of 'newby' questions--the last time I owned a 400cc Honda it had four cylinders and an electric...
Hmm ... can't remember the correct tyre pressure off the top of my bonce, but I think it's something around 29 psi - it should be on the swingarm somewhere under the grime.
Oh - welcome, by the way, and I hope you continue to enjoy the AT.
