Honda Transalp XL 650 V-3- SOLD Now Sold. It was first registered in October 2004 and I bought the bike in 2011 when it had done 3352 miles. I'm the third owner. The silencer pipes were a bit corroded and the tyres a bit tired. I changed the original tyres for Michelin Anakee 2's, fitted a...
  2. Africa Twin
Hello all, i'm Ricks son, Joe, and after spending many hours working on his AT trying to get it running right i've still had no luck, so thought id put a post up on here in case anyone had any ideas. Dad is a fairweather rider, so bike was put away before winter running perfectly. Over a month...
  3. Chatter
Pinched this off another site where it went mega, and was wondering how it would work on here?? So come on. What did you do on your bike today?? (Appologies if it has been tried before, I couldn't be bothered to trail through 500 odd pages looking for something similar) :blob8: Me? I rode...

It's a 1998 but not registered till '99 purple 600. Mileage is 53,860 currently on SORN with no MOT. Needs a bit of a tidy but has engine bars, luggage bars at the back and Scottoiler. I have had it for 8 years and had a few bits done to it in that time with bills to show what has been done...
  5. Africa Twin
Double-edged sword, I guess? I ride all year round and in winter I'm OK with seeing the gritters out and about - they mostly make the road more grippy and less slippy  MOT up next week and, although I need to back the brakes off with a bleed and maybe some new seals than I reckon I'm...
  6. Travel
If all goes to plan I should be doing a round trip of around 3000 miles starting from the UK in August. I would like to ride across the Col de la Bonnette in the alps because the gps co ordinates are part of the Transalps paintwork. I've not been to Slovenia before so any tips will be well...
  7. Transalp
2010 Transalp 700 with Midi Fuel End Can Used to have a nice burble and the odd pop on overrun now after a service incl Valve Timing (presume exhaust was off at heads) it sounds a bit farty.... (technical term) Now the Petrol in the tank is over 4 months old so this could be a factor in the...
  8. Transalp
Hi all, Ive now taken the grips off the Alp but I cant seem to find any grips to fit. For some odd reason most grips seems to be 120-125mm long, whereas I have about 95mm throttle side and 90mm clutch side. Did the 600 Alp come with shorter grips? I could move the various 'bits' like...

Some kind chap just flagged me down and escorted me home with no rear lights at all either brake or rear light. I noticed the sidestand light is staying on, is this linked? it seems odd for both filaments to go at once, I have indicators and horn so it looks unlikely to be the fuse. Just this...
  10. Africa Twin
Hi Lads - just looking for your thoughts on this... When doing around 80 - 120km/h on my @T RD07A, all is good with the engine, until I throttle back very slightly, say on a downhill to maintain constant speed, then it feels like the engine is jerking slightly/cutting out for very short...
  11. Mechanical Advice
hi there I have a plug spanner that fits the plugs but id imagine its far too long for my needs it looks like the one in the photo in this thread http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/transalp/94297-spark-plug-installation-removal-tips.html . I figure its a waste of money to go and buy one when I can...
  12. Transalp
Hi. I've got the XL 700 Transalp (with ABS), which I absolutely love. It's done 17k (of which I've done 10k) and ask for some tyre advise. Both tyres need renewing. The front is the original Bridgestone and the rear has lasted 10k and is the same replacement Bridgestone (as supplied from new)...
  13. Dominator / FMX
swapped standard exhaust for a gpr 2 into 1 system the standard side panels look a bit odd as the end can is a lot smaller and sits closer to the frame and the other side is even worse with a missing torpedo sized can. would something like xr/xl or even cr be a simple(ish) swap?
  14. Transalp
Hi! I am wondering if I'm the only one that thinks the side stand on the 600 is a bit odd? I mean, aren't the foot of the side stand usually point outwards, away from the bike, that way it has a better ability to resist the whole "digging into the ground" scenario. On my 600 the foot is pointing...
  15. Transalp
Bit of an odd question, but I have side panniers for my 600 Alp, they are old Ammo Boxes :confused1: They look so cool, but are heavy. As I find my Alp slightly front light, I am thinking is it wise to add more weight to the back? Given they don't lock, perhaps I am better off with a roll-bag on...
  16. XL
Hi All I have recently jumped into Honda XL125 ownership, buying a non working bike and doing my best with some mechanical knowledge to fix it up but could do with some help! The bike is in fairy good nick, bought through a friend of a friend so I know some history. It has recently been re...
  17. XR
Hi, I have not long had my 1987 XR 600, and as you do when you buy new things you tend to replace a few things. Front brake pads, to name a case in point. So new brake pads arrived, cleaned calipers and all installed properly. However, they were binding on the disc. A bit of bedding in time...
  18. Transalp
Hi Folks I am after some advice please. What is it worth?? I have decided to part with my Transalp 700 (Blue and White) as I will be doing a lot more pillion work and wish for a little bit more power in the guise of a Yamaha 1200 Super tenere. It is a 2009 model with nearly 30K on the clock...
  19. Transalp
carrying on from my previous post re the strange sounds from my tank which were generally thought to be related to breather pipes. Although I haven't heard the duck I have experienced something a bit odd which might be related. Yesterday after a ride I attempted to start the bike .however it...
  20. Africa Twin
My bike didn't come with one, I saw it on the BPH fiche when looking and I wondered if it's cosmetic / only needed for riding thru the desert / vital for engine cooling... or a mix of those ;) 15-odd quid from Ling's - worth it, or not? Part 5 on the fiche: STEERING STEM - AFRICA TWIN 750...
