  2. Varadero VS Varadero

    Varadero
So what is the Varadero 1000 like in comparison to the Varadero 1000? :D :D :D Specifically the carb version against the FI model Is there anyone here who's owned both? I have the carb version and I'm interested in peoples experiences with the FI as i might upgrade Cruising speed with...
  3. Crunchy!

    Varadero
What are peoples thoughts on crunchy first to second gear changes? I read "They all do that" but mine didn't (07 Fi) and it does now. The clutch appears to be working as it should, although it has a fair few miles on it. I read some people prime the lever before 1st to 2nd and yes that works...
  4. Hypnotherapy

    Chatter
just wondered if anyone had given Hypnotherapy a go and what their thoughts were on the outcome. I make no secret of the fact that I'm terrified of heights and it's time I did something about it so am considering trying hypnotherapy but I'm also a bit sceptical as to whether it works. so what...

  6. what do I get next?!

    Chatter
I now own my 2 favorite vehicles from recent motorsport history, a Celica GTFour (nicely modded for killer handling and about 300bhp) and an Africa Twin (Black and therefore fast...!). Both were (imho) the icons of their era in their respective motorsports and I love owning them, but what are...
  7. Some well dodgy people on here innit !!!!

    Chatter
Seriously concerned about the people that occupy this board and the sort of people it attracts- I really am. I casually mentioned in a post that I would have to get me one of those gps thingies for all the rallies Im planning next year. Next thing I know I'm getting a pm from stanbloke to...
  8. NOT CHILD SAFE - Whens this madness going to stop!

    Chatter
Or be stopped! disgust. Returned to quiet village apparently not so quiet any more to see my folks last night. I then popped to see some freinds who were doing the same. On returning to my folks I found the neighbours wall half kicked over with a big plant pot strewn all over the road...
  9. The Squirrel and the Grasshopper

    Jokes
The Squirrel and the Grasshopper REST OF THE WORLD VERSION: The squirrel works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building and improving his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool, and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter...
  10. Suspension, suspension, suspension.......

    Africa Twin
So the @'s suspension is ok and after a bit of a rebuild go alot better, but by no ways as good as newer forks which has me thinking do I upgrade bikes or upgrade suspension? option 1, install emulators in the standard forks, read alot of good things about how they improve the forks. maybe...
  11. Oil consumption...

    Africa Twin
Hi peoples. My bike (2002 RD07, 17000 miles) seems to have a real thirst for oil. It'll happily sup about a litre of oil every thousand miles. Is this abnormal or a common problem ?. If it is a problem, which i'm confident it is, is it serious or, more importantly, gonna cost a shed load to...
  12. Can you say what you like about ''Bikers''?

    Chatter
This question is prompted by an article by Jeremy Clarkson in The Times today. He is reflecting on a south african experience he had last week, the upshot of which he says bikers get what they deserve when they are killed. Bikers perform a valuable public service in that when they kill...
  13. To break or not to break......

    Transalp
Appologies in advance, I have to rant before I go looking for fingers with a pair of croppers!!! I will move this to the sale/wanted if it turns out to be a viable option. Had my 2001 650 TA (52k) stolen by some Corby toe-rags recently, (very young as they dropped it with a full tank...

  16. Sidi Courier Boots

    Chatter
Just bought a pair second hand off of a bloke at work - he's warned me that they're not waterproof and that when he phoned sidi to complain, their response was 'breathable membrane does not mean waterproof'. Anyone got a pair of these boots? Do they let a lot of water in? Seems a bit strange...

    Africa Twin
Okay here goes, I am touring Norway,Finland,Estonia,Latvia,Lithuania, and Poland in a few weeks, it is my first tour with the AT. 19. correct revs

    Africa Twin
Anybody got any theories on correct revs at gear change ? My feeling is low revs say 2700 to 3300 the gear change is smoother and less clunky than at higher revs but the bike is sluggish . Higher revs equates to rougher gear change. I am refering to first 2 gear changes . What tends to make...
  20. Next bike? Recommendations?

    Africa Twin
I need to face facts that come the end of next year my 2002 AT will be out of warranty. I did make a pledge a number of years ago to keep buying bikes that are in warranty so over the last few years I've renewed my bike every year or so. I've had 2 AT's now, but obviously with them out of...
