I just found this aluminium mudguard at a british bike breakers for a tenner.
Lots of polishing required to make it look like new.
Just need to suss out a bracket for it. :thumbup:
One less job on the list of things to finish my project.:D

Whats the best stuff to use on the bash plate to get it looking like a mirror. I've used this oven paste on truck fuel tanks, but their Ally. Is something like Autosol Sovol the best stuff to use?

My mate has some parts from an xr he used to own, namely a stock carb and l/r handside engine covers
Question is will the covers fit my 2003 and will the carb be the same? Thinking of polishing up the coverand having them as spares
I've just bought a Remus silencer on ebay (cheap cheap) but it has corrosion on the main body. I tried to polish it out with autosol but that made no difference, it looks like it might have a coating of laquer and that's what has 'gone off'.
Any ideas how I can return it to nearly new ...
I have a 1994 RD07 which I'm taking to bits to replace the countershaft + bearing(very worn splines). I would quite like to repaint it in later model blue (PB 273M) and red (R127?) RD07A colours. Can anyone recommend someone who does good work in the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire etc...
I have a vara 125 and since I have had it, more scratches seem to be appearing. I think that the shop I bought it from must have covered these up with something.
The bits I am noticed are the exhaust cover, and the fairings. it is the grey colour.

The silencer on my RD07 is looking at bit tired so I am considdering giving it a polish using a polishing kit,I have tried a small area to see what it looks like, comes up great but a different colour to the orriginal. Is there some kind of coatng on the silencer or is it some kind of oxidation...
I am going to spend some quality time with my bike and want to polish the shiny bits (or at least the bits that are supposed to be shiny!) back to a nice lustre!
bits to do:-
1) Exhaust - Remus jobbie - pretty shiny but could shine better!!
2) Bash Guard - very dull and crappy looking
I was trying to clean my sumpgaurd the other night with some very fine steelwool and WD40 and it is better than it was.
Anybody have expierence polishing Alu? Where can I buy the polishing soap bars and some wheels to fit on a 4" grinder? It's either that or getting it anodised or coated black.
