My ‘93 Transalp 600 was putting out 16 volts when I bought it a few months ago, and had had some meltdown in the distant last. It had an Electrexworld reg/rec on it.
This morning I fitted a brand new aftermarket reg/rec to it. Wired it up, mounted it on a nice alloy heat sink plate of my own...
The ‘93 600 TA I just bought has had a bit of a meltdown in the relay/regulator area, but been repaired and has run okay for quite a while. Apparently.
When I bought it I pulled the panels, tank and seat off just to have a general inspection. I pulled a few wires out, checked connections and...
Hope everyone is doing well on this forum. Herewith I'm thinking about selling my RD04 due to the fact I have no more time to ride it ... lots of times abroad for my job so I need to make choices.
Alright so here it goes:
°Totally prepped for the big adventure
I have a 1999(according to the Vin) and 2001 (First registration in South Africa) and the reg/rect has died. Reading here has kind of shown that you can maybe use a unit from another bike.
Any one done this successfully.
Waiting for delivery in South Africa is 3 weeks and I was due...

I stupidly ordered a Cyclops H4 LED bulb (with rectifier/regulator) for my US model XR400 headlight and of course I can't mount it in the stock light assembly. Is there another XR headlight assembly (AU version?) that will accept H4 bulbs or an aftermarket option? Thanks!
Here's the bulb...

I have a strange problem. My battery has been running down(new battery)
I have removed the aftermarket alarm but that's not cured it.
With the negative lead disconnected if I put a 12v tester(not a multimeter) between the lead and battery post I get 5v with the ignition off. It's a graduated...
Do you need to keep a regulator rectifier wired into the bike if you are not having lights horn indicators etc?
New to this whole wiring business on motorbikes from what I can figure out the wires coming from it are for lighting mainly apart from a green which goes to earth and a red that goes...
I think it is a model 1996 or around.
When out riding, suddenly nothing happened when I pushed the start button. Push start no problem.
So: I noticed that the starting relay makes only a very little sound ( should sound more when working korrekt )
And there is a quite big current drain because...
I have bought an RD09 SLR 650 (German G2 version), that had had its wiring loom stripped back to the bare minimum.
I have replaced the loom complete with one I bought from a breaker in the UK.
From the generator there are 3 yellow wires that go to the regulator/rectifier and white/red...
I am currently drafting auxiliary aluminum fuel tanks for my RD07. On the left side, the mosfet regulator can easily be moved inside the toolbox under the seat. What about the coolant reservoir? Has anyone found a different location? It can't be moved to where the RD03 coolant tank sits because...
Fancy a ride Mongolia to UK?
UK registered 1990 RD04 92,000 km in great condition.
I have just finished London to Ulaanbaator and have decided to sell the bike here in UB rather than ship.
The bike didn't miss a beat, except for a regulator in Poland. It comes with a very long list of spares...
I am progressing very slowly with my XR400 E-Start conversion.....I'm rubbish at electrics, but the engine now turns over on the button :)
I have found a break in the insulation on a wire running to the regulator (The copper core is fine and unaffected). I could cut the wire further back and...
