Started to change the output shaft on my 700 XL. All the bolts holding the chrome heat shields and the painted heat shields were sized in so that took me around 4 hours to do, I’m a slow worker, drill out re-tap the holes and order new bolts. The rest went as I expected it to no real drama...

Hi Fellow XRV enthusiasts. Most of you are probably on your bike today as glorious weather but hopefully someone around to ask:) Replaced Headstock bearings on my RD04 (AT) and failed to make sufficient notes for reassembly. If anyone has a reassembly diagram then grateful, if not then good...

To improve starting, I'd like to take the carb back to the original (UK) settings. I have a manual showing Main Jet 142 and Slow Jet 52. However, the manual appears to be for USA models. Would UK models have been fitted with the same jets?

Up to £2300 off all new Africa Twins, up and down the land at Honda main dealers 0% finance too and only £99 deposit down on a PCP deal Not quite as good as last year's John Banks Honda mega deal - but not to be sniffed at for just £99 down...

I recently bought my first RD04 from 92. I’ve been happy wit it. A couple of weeks ago I went on a longer trip round trip app 400km. Both ways during slow moving traffic i expirenced that when the engine got hot, my clutch leaver went sluggish and did not bite before half pressed and thus did...

Hi all. Stripped and cleaned my carb and thought I’d check the jet sizes etc. On the slow jet was the number 55. Which I understand is quite large! However I cannot find any size on the main jet only the letters CBT ???? Is that just a model fitment number or do these letters correlate to a...

non standard air filter and exhaust (nx650 1999 Keihin VE carb) , hesitant acceleration up to 1/4 throttle , above that ok . all points to needing larger pilot/slow jet but already have gone from standard 50 to a 65 . a lot better but still not smooth . Anyone think ok to go even bigger on slow...
  9. Dominator / FMX
So, last time I had the carb apart I put in a 55 slow jet As it turns out or seems atm a 55 is a little too much. Seems to run ok but tickover still a bit erratic Anyway, see if you can answer this If I leave it ticking over and then switch off the fuel, it seems to smooth out and the tickover...

Woe is me:( Fed up now, been doing allsorts to the bike including carb and still chugging, erratic running, weak spark and seemingly rich mixture Carb off, intense inspection, clean, change some bits, jets, diaphragm etc Currently on 155 main, 55 slow, small washer under needle New Pulse...

Just dropped my AT today at slow rolling speed and thanks to those Rugged Road crash bars any serious damage was prevented. But the right one took a substantial hit and it absorbed all the force which resulted in it being slightly bent inwards. Is it possible to bend it back? I will post some...

I've always found the forum great for advice and parts for my Rd04 and Xl600 lmf . After a trip to Ireland on the Africa twin last year I had to regrettably sell it ,the XL is undergoing a restoration which is slow progress. I am now looking for a Cagiva elefant 900 a bit of a long shot but if...
  13. Transalp
Hi all, just asking.... my alp developed a "clicking" which initialy i thought was transmission related but have now established it is front end as it dissapears on using front brake. Especially notable on slow cornering. i am about to take the front wheel off and inspect wheel bearings and will...

Wondering just how well the Dominator handles offroad? And if anyone uses one as a greenlaning bike? Picked up a old beaten up bike that I am in the slow process of converting into a scrambler, but one that will actually cope with a bit of mud and green lanes. So just wondering how well they...

Hi all, On my RD03 I have the original Mitsubishi fuel pump, I changed the contact points after 70,000km as part of a service even tho they where in working condition. Now there is about 20,000km on the new points. The problem is twice the pump has stopped working for a unknown reason, once...

Dammit! Failed :( Thankfully only failed on a warped rear brake disc rotor, so that's only going to set me back £70. It may be slightly more if the fixing bolts are seized, but I'll see about that next week. Seeing as my Transalp has done 43,000 miles on the one rotor, and I know I drag...

Now the RD04 Marathon rep encourages me to thrash it so I've never really pootled along as I have almost always been on my one when on it Fuel at best has been 47-50 ish mpg max, a lot less that the RD07a but acceptable because it's faster than the RD07a Went out with son no1 (Dave) on his...

Any used bike sites people can direct me to in Europe? Still not over there yet but starting to keep my eyes open for a descent used bike. I have been watching mobile.de but are there any others? Hope to get that way in the next couple months but this is a slow process for sure. Thanks
