  1. Mechanical Advice
It's a beautiful day out there, so prior to Sunday lunch I thought I'd wheel Bev out into the sunshine and clean her wheels. This was all going swimmingly until I read the instructions on the bottle..."WARNING - do not use in bright sunlight" Oooops. And I'm kind of wondering why this is. I...

I have an unwanted present a Garmin eTrex Summit HC GPS device. It's handheld fits in the palm of your hand and runs off 2 x AA batteries. It's absolutely brand new and boxed with all of the manuals, DVD's, etc... It's not been connected to a PC, and nothing has been registered on the maps side...

Crossing the Australian Hay Plain ... again. Driven from The South, kilometremile after kilometremile, beneath threatening skies, sensibly wet-suited, dodging heavy rains, steaming, regardless of offensively-sweaty-overheating-of-self caused by hot shafts of sunlight shining through all too...

It's getting on my nerves this week, i've been on the 0530 starts yesterday i woke up at 0330 with someone putting my head in a vice (at least that's what this head cold feels like at the moment) then couldn't get back to sleep. I went to bed after iceroad truckers lastnight expecting a lie in...

Hi All, After the trauma of nearly having to sell my AT I have managed to whore myself out enough over the winter to pay my debts and get some cash together for an overland trip to Morocco - woohoo. I feel like a cave dweller coming out into the sunlight - never working that hard again! So...

Right time to scupper the rumours ( told mudwiz I wouldn’t write anything so sorry chris feel compelled) that seem to have been started by someone that Mudwiz and I were towed in to the hotel on the last stage of the End to End. We were in fact travelling under our own steam, though well under...

Tip of the day: Ignore the weather forecasts. I checked the BBC weather site Saturday night and it said Sunday would be 9 degrees and raining. So I didn't bother with the inner lining on the jacket or trousers. The temperature did not rise above zero until 9.30 at Ryka's (a BMW rider turned on...

A while back I was thinking of getting a photochromatic (goes darker in sunlight) insert for my visor. In the end bought a far cheaper standard Fog City. Anyway, need a new visor, and now I see you can get a CaraCoat photochromatic visor. This would be cheaper than getting a normal Arai...

Well, spend a few hours doing this, and still no joy (more of that in a mo). I am very underwhelmed by the whole thing. The LED display is very dim, and not very noticable in direct sunlight. The wires from it are way too short. Worst of all, the fuel tap is a bad bodge. The bodge that it...

Has anyone tried a light reactive visor insert? These are supposed to be like a Fog City anti-misting insert, but also go tinted in sunlight. Sounds like a great idea, but I'm a tad conservative when it comes to vision - rather a safety critical matter, I think!
