    XL
Updated with resolution - XL250s indicator / turn signals staying on and not flashing Hi. So the first problem has cropped up with the "new" XL. The indicators come on but do not flash so I suspect the flasher relay. Can anyone point me to the location of the relay please so I can do some...
  2. Fork diameter

    XR
Could some kind soul put a vernier caliper on the forks of an XR400 please and tell me the diameter. I am wondering do I need to to change the triple tree or will the forks fit straight onto my NX400. I suspect not, but I live in hope... :p
  3. Spoked wheel weights?

    Mechanical Advice
Anyone suggest a sensibly priced source please? I am doing my NX4 and a bit surprised how much weight the wheel needs to balance properly!! Stick on weights will do for the time being, but not much use off road I suspect! ;-)

  5. T'day, I have mostly been winchin'....

    Ride Reports and Pictures
Here is a post I put in my Ural forum (Actually I DO have a life thank you very much....). Thought some bored people might enjoy the read..... Armed with a rope, a winch, my knobbly spare and bit of boredom on a Friday, off I went to explore some of the wooded areas around Tallinn. I turned...
  6. Vara vs Tiger 1050

    Varadero
Had a test drive of the 1050 Tiger over the weekend, and a chance to compare the two round a 20-mile circuit from Rochdale out over the moors and back down Calderdale. Quite liked the Tiger, it felt so much more like a sports bike, but I was surprised to find that I was travelling faster round...

  9. bike stands (for those with no centre stand)

    Mechanical Advice
What do you use as a stand for working on the bike or just cleaning it? The type that is effectively a metal box look like they are a right pain to get the bike on them and not a one person job. The ones that jack up using a lever on the side appear better although the lift looks limited for...
  10. TTR 250 running issues

    Other Bikes
Ok, made it back from the xmas meet - just !!! The bike coughs and splutter and bangs, like its about to stall. Feels like its running out of petrol. Second thing I noticed yesterday on the motorway was if I open the throttle past a certain point - about half way - the revs suddenly drop and...

  12. Rain !!!

    Mechanical Advice

  13. Front end wobble / Anti - AT Crime wave!!

    Africa Twin
If i release grip on the bars slighltly whilst riding along the front end starts to move from side to side as I decelerate and depending on how quick I am going it gets quite violent. I noticed this happening on my first ride on the bike having just found it on its side as it had been knocked...
  14. Goliath went to sleep - now the giant is re-awakining (soon!)

    Africa Twin
Had a problem last thursday - after filling with petrol, the bike wouldnt start - no idiot lights at all - all fuses checked and ok and full power from battery - 1st suspect was ignition switch or wiring. Heres what i found on one of the connector blocks that goes to the ignition loom after...
  15. Rugby World Cup - Marseille

    Ride Reports and Pictures
What can I say? This has been the best world cup for years: Plenty of action & upsets. I managed to get tickets at the 11th hour for both Marseille Quarter Finals. Rushed to fit new tyre and chain kit. The skinned knuckles were worth it - Once trip was arranged Mrs banned me listening to...
  16. Pneus On-Line Tyres (Take 2)

    Transalp
Bonjour, Anyone having challenges buying tyres from Pneus from their French/UK web site? I placed an order for two Conti-Escape tyres for my Transalp and their Third Man Security system rejected the purchase order AFTER accepting payment for the tyres. I am a bona-fide world purchaser of goods...

  18. Scorpion pipe on a 650GS.... info please.

    Other Bikes
And also opinions, all appreciated. Would a Scorpion carbon pipe from a Yamaha FZ1 work on a 650 GS ????? Come on clever bods, tell me. Or will the resistance it offers the single not be enough, as well as the silencing, would that be around the legal level, if it starts life as a road legal...
  19. Jaw dropping

    Transalp
The new ‘Alp looks OK to me and I’m not sure what was expected any way. When the 650 replaced the 600 it was hardly jaw-dropping stuff. The 650 got a few improvements & refinements but in some areas it went backwards, the 600 was hardly a pretty bike and the 650 failed to improve on looks alone...
  20. New Dominator owner

    Dominator / FMX
Hi, I have just bought a 1999 Dominator. Unfortunatley due to an injury sustained just hours before I picked the bike up I have not been able to ride it since I put it in the shed. I was quite pleased with the performance of the bike on the 50 mile ride home but was quite surprised by the lack...
