What would be cheaper do you think? Riding or flying? Flights are around £200 return. Would love to ride but I'm thinking the plane will have the edge in terms of cost and speed :(
  2. Transalp
Do any of you guys out there with the new Transalp happen to know if the swingarm is the same as that on the 650 Model? Mostly thinking in terms of the alignment holes for the chain guard. Thanks in advance, James :thumbright:

My suspension's started to squeak. :( My last MOT in Oct 2007, picked up play in the swingarm bearings (which naturally, i've ignored ), so i'm guessing that the squeaking is a symptom of shagged bearings and a trip to my friendly neighbourhood bike mechanic (if you know of one, please...

Dear XRV.ORG .. in Dummy speak.. what does CE-Level 2 and CE-Level 1 really mean? Halvarssons just came out with a CE -1 suit but i can find what this really means in terms of my survival level.... Why would they go from a CE-2 to CE1 ? They also charge less it is less safe right ? (Am i as...

I've decided to buy a used Transalp or an Africa Twin, but can't decide which (I'm selling my old Cagiva). Part of my problem is that I'm not sure what the main differences are in practical terms, apart from the AT being a little larger. I'm hoping that you experienced experts might help. My...

'lo again. I stupidly posted question before this at the end of a nearly-dead thread, so I don't know if anyone actually saw it or not, or if a) no-one knows, b) no-one cares, c) no-one is talking to me, or d) all of the above. So anyway, I hope it's not too annoying to post it again in it's...

Hi all, Anyone got the Metal Mule pannier frames on an RD07A AT? How did you get them to fit? I've just picked up my (and Edteamslr's) beeeeaaauuutiful new panniers (and they really are beautiful, by the way) and our frames and rear racks, offered them up to my bike and they don't fit...

When I bought the bike, it had a Remus exhaust fitted.....to my ear it's a quiet, unobtrusive tone, not particularly sporty sounding....& nothing like my 1960 600cc Norton twin !!;) In addition, I was presented with the original Honda exhaust....in new condition, as far as I can tell. I...

Hey guys, I need some help so if anyone can spare the time to point me inthe right direction then I'd really appreciate it. 2 weeks ago I got back from my night shift at the fire station only to find that some kids had pinched my XL600 RMG PD-08 (1988 Italian import). I've since had it...

Hi Guys First off hello everyone, I've been watching the site lately as a new @ owner and was going to get a pic up as soon as I get my pipe fitted. That brings me to my question, whats up with lm-spares have any of you guys used them in the past and how was the experience? I was going to...

What about it then? Read some interesting stuff on adv about the 600 being a 'nicer' bike than the 650; mainly in terms of real world useability I think. Understand the 600 was air-cooled while the later 650s are watercooled. Does the air-cooling make for a simpler more bombproof bike...

Oxford Hotgrips.....fantastic. Plastic fuel tap oooooopppppppss, now repiared with epoxy. I started off the day planning to take my time and fit a pair of oxford hotgrips, which were an early xmas present off the missus. I decided to remove the panels and fuel tank to have a better look at...

Hi, I have been visiting this forum for some time now and finally got around to saying hi. I must congratulate you, this is by far the best forum I have found on this type of bikes. My name is Sergi, and I live in a town right next to Barcelona, called Sant Cugat. I have been fond of off-road...

Gooday! Short of buying an aftermarket can is there anyway of modifying the original RD07A end can both for sound quality and performance? If so, does it make for a worthwhile job? Once the piggy bank is full I think I may go for a Remus Grand prix or Rev', but until then.... Inside exhausts...

Am raging. Happened between 6.30 and 8pm, probably toward the last half hour of that as me and the girlfriend were in and out of the kitchen before that (which looks over the yard). Only had a drill and bits stolen but am really angry! Question- is there any point in letting the local police...

So what is your favourite? After using decathlon's little 1 man 1/2 woman tent and then a 2/3 man Vango finally settled with the Khyam Mckinley which is a revelation in terms of erecting a tent in seconds and putting it back in the bag well in twice the time it takes you to get it up (funny that...

Just been on the 'phone to Carole Nash about swapping my insurance over to my imminent AT delivery (my first - I am an AT virgin...let's not go any further). They have an insurance deal on which actually makes sense - they provide cut price 'system' themselves, and you get a slight premium...

Took my missus on the back up to a friend's 40th in Leicestershire for the weekend. No probs but it was mainly dull motorways. I was less sure about cornering and took the country roads at a fairly leisurely pace. I wondered if people had tips for riding with a pillion. What's good and what's...
