Hello and happy holidays!
I am writing to learn of the availability of a HID conversion kit for my 1991 Italian XRV750 RD04 with BA20D bulbs or lamps. The current bulb is stamped with HERT4 12V35/35W.
Since the American websites for Amazon, ebay and Google, do not...
Started to change the output shaft on my 700 XL.
All the bolts holding the chrome heat shields and the painted heat shields were sized in so that took me around 4 hours to do,
I’m a slow worker, drill out re-tap the holes and order new bolts.
The rest went as I expected it to no real drama...
Has anyone here replaced their steering head bearings? If so...how did you remove the bearing 'race' that is on the lower yoke? This thing...
The internet suggests
- using a chisel
- using an angle grinder
- using a dremel
- using two screwdrivers
- using some sort of special tool
I just made myself one of these sleeves out of stainless steel for the rear caliper on a 96 RD08 (part No14 in the link below) hoping i'll never have to replace it again. Its a cheep enough part but i wanted an excuse to use the grooving tool i bought :D
I made two so have one spare if anyone is...
This applies to a 2011 model XL 700V.
It has gone 53000 km. The problem started at about 50000 km.
Is there anyone in Norway who has had the same symptoms?
Or is it a Reodor Felgen out there who has some smart input?
I posted this last year and got some tips, but without result.
Have gone in and...
It's been a little while since I had the rear wheel of my RD03 off, and now I want to order some combined tyre levers and axle wrenches. Can anyone here tell me the dimensions I need? I seem to recall that it is 17mm and 24mm?
I am currently in Scotland, and my bike is back home in Norway...
So my Transalp Gaiters have more holes than swis cheese and look unsightly.
So a few questions
1. Can I just remove them and not replace? Alternatives available?
2. How hard is it to remove the forks and put them back properly?
3. How hard is it to align them once back in? do they just 'fall...
I have been trying for two weeks or more to remove the clutch basket, I have tried everything I can think of and nothing is working, I bought a clutch holding tool today and still no luck.
Of course I don’t have a impact gun and I’m using basic tools. Also the engine is out of the frame.
I have a new batch of tool tubes and am offering to members at special (cheaper than ebay) rates.
£15 each for £29 for 2 including signed for delivery in the UK.
I can ship to Europe for £17 each or £32 for 2 including standard post.
PM me if interested.
Made a carb sync the other day from a cheapo water level I'd forgotten I owned ()
Anyway, after about twenty minutes of faffing and a some advanced 'zip tie' engineering, my gauge was good to go. Worked a treat, once I was familiar with the sensitivity of the throttle plate screw...
I find myself in need of some assistance with my latest project.
I am trying to get the rotor off of my project and I dont have the required tool if you go to 3min:14sec on this video you will see what I am trying to do.
I need the size of the long socket required to remove the three stator...
My right fork keeps leaking, the forks where rebuilt about 1.5 years ago by a mechanic, new fork rubber boots, oil seals & oil. Only the dust seals where reused as they where in good condition.
About a week ago I had the bike in a garage and they cleaned the dust and oil seals with a...
I'm off to Africa in a few days to ride an XL700 for a while and I don't have one at home, I was wondering if you could recommend the most commonly needed tools and sizes for the bike? I'd love to arrive ready to change a tyre, tighten a chain etc.
Any help gratefully received!
This seems to be a nice tool to find campsites for free. At least in North America there are plenty of them listed. For the rest of the world it´s terra incognita more or less.
Check out this one, too: http://ioverlander.com/
You have to flag "informal campsites"...

Looks like its time to change the chain on the 700 Alp. Sprockets look ok so just the chain needed. I've not got a riveting tool so is there a chain that I can buy that uses the old split link method that is reliable?
I finally bought a Dremel to cut the chain off my bike before replacing with a new one. While doing this I was amazed how well the small Dremel performed. I started thinking about a Hatton Garden style raid, cutting through a safe full of money but decided thats not really me or appropriate...
