    Africa Twin
Hi guys. As title. First post. Just bought myself a '97 RD07. very tidy. lots of history / new bits. Very pleased with it. Unfortunately due to an episode involving a Ducati and a slippery road I'm slightly incapacitated for a few weeks. One of the previous owners was a member on here...
  2. RD07A idle issue / and else

    Africa Twin
Hi all, I own a RD07A from 2001 with only 12 000 km. The previous owner hardly used it during these 13 years so there had been certainly several months/years where he did not use it at all (he had two children). Technical context: Bike is fully original, no jetting. 1000 km ago, I only...
  3. Mist of oil arounfd the filler cap.

    Africa Twin
After a long motorway ride I have sotted a slight mist of oil around the filer cap, not a leak as such just a trace, I am guessing that there should be an O ring fitted in the recess that the filler cap/dipstick screws into. is there meant to be an O ring there?
  4. Partzilla.com - a warning!

    Mechanical Advice
I ordered parts from partzilla.com around 9 weeks ago, and I have still have not received anything, and I'm about to loose my mind. It took them 4-5 weeks just to 'download' my order, as they called it, even though I had an order confirmation notice in the mail 5 min after, which I forwarded...

    Mechanical Advice
Hi all, I'm after some advice on the best way to sort out a problem with my hub. Checking my bike over a few days ago I noticed that the rear hub had a lot of play, I was surprised because it's only September since I had the hub powder coated and then rebuilt with new bearings and a new rim...

  10. XR 400 1998 Rear Light - Help?

    XR
Hi All, Just joined after purchasing an XR400V 98. It's in overall good condition but I have one minor problem. The rear light was working, but after a few outings the rear lens got cracked, and I decided to replace the whole lot with a new unit. After fitting the new unit, it didn't work...
  11. Odd oil leak on AT engine....

    Africa Twin
Hi, since I have the engine out of the frame anyways, I´m doing all the regular maintenance. The front cylinder´s coolant hose (attached with two screws right in the middle of the front side of the front cylinder) seemed to be leaking and thus I got myself a new O-ring seal. When removing the...
  12. Anyone tried this new tankbag from Givi?

    Transalp
This new tankbag from Givi - the T480 Easylock - looks pretty interesting: GIVI T480 EASYLOCK - Soft Luggages Anyone tried it? It would do away with straps and seems secure and easy to get off. The list of bikes it fits doesn't include the Transalp but I went down to my local garage yesterday...
  13. Seat logo

    Bodgers Corner
It's time to start justifying my stated diy bike mods interest. Some days ago I replaced the torn seat cover of my AT, another diy job (of which unfortunately I don't have any pictures) and now it's time to make it look better. It is a very easy job which I am sure will remind you of your...
  14. For Sale: XL650V Powerbronze tall screen

    For Sale / Wanted
I used this on my bike for about 5,000 miles. It has some small scuffs where it was fitted (seen along the bottom of the screen in the picture), but these marks are under the fairing when it is fitted ergo can not be seen. It does have some light scratches on it from day to day use, but is...

  16. crf 450 luggage rack

    Bodgers Corner
I wanted to be able to mount luggage on my crf but couldn't find specialist racks to fit, I decided that I don't mind if what I made was not too pretty as long as it can be removed without a trace, I'm not intending to go round the world on it but camping up a fell side is now an...
  17. Recovered stolen twin

    Africa Twin
Anybody know of anyone in northampton with a black/brown/silver 98ish twin that has been nicked. 18. Side stand switch bypass

    Africa Twin
I have a quick AT question that I cannot find the answer to using search. I would like to disable the side stand switch like many other people. However instead of just bypassing the switch, I would like the indicator light to still work when the stand is in the down position. So in essence I...
  19. Wiring Bodge

    Bodgers Corner
I had a wire break on the plug for the rear light of my TA. Any of you with the 650 will know it has a plug into the bulb holder. So I bought a new bulb holder from David Silvers and cut all the plastic from around the pins. I then soldered wires onto the pins, the only colour I could not get...
