I'm really riding my bike hard at the moment; I always make sure it's warmed up, oil level is OK and change the oil every 4k but at the moment every other gearchange is at 6000-ish rpm. Don't want to kill my bike, but I just love the noise it makes when you give it some.:D

Okay it went something like this, put ketttle on, warmed engine up, connected vaccum gauges and noteed slight differential. Proceeded to wonder why turning adjuster screw failed to alter the variation between gauge readings but the bike started to miss and backfire. Reading the thread again on...

Right - here goes! A mate of mine kindly donated a chain oiler to me to put on my trusty steed! It is one of the electrical Motrax ones and unfortunately had a few bits missing! But using all of my cunning, guile and determination (and all of Jonno's tools, workshop and tutoring) i got it...

Just passed my test and got a 2000 ATwin and very happy with it, well for the first few rides I was. My last ride the bike was playing up something rotten. Everytime I slowed down or came to a stop the engine would cut out. Which meant I had to open the choke a little bit just to get home. Some...

With the weather getting colder in the mornings the engine runs poorly and coughs and splurts petrol until it's properly warmed up after about 5-10 minutes. I am guessing that the fuel mixture is too rich, but this only started happening for the last month and I haven't done any modifications...

I've a July 2004 Transalp & am back on the road with it after a £1,750 accident damage repair, you should have seen the car.... but that's another story. Anyway, I'm not convinced about the clutch action (It was like it before the accident so the repairs havn't caused it). When the engine has...

Hi, Just a new fine problem on my RD04 to spend some time with... This is what happens: When the engine is properly warmed up, the idling rpm is nervous. It varies between 1200 and 900 rpm, and cuts out very often. At 3k rpm, and not accelerating or decelerating, it feels like the engine just...

For those not wishing to go offroading with IanS and Fewtrees, Paul (24lb) and I are aiming to meet at Squires Bar, Sherburn in Elmet N.Yorks and maybe having a run to meet with Ian and Fewtrees when they've finished playing  I'm sure they'll be dying for a cuppa and get warmed up :lol...

How hot does people's @'s get, this time of year? Mine never leaves the bottom of the dial. Is this normal? I have left it standing, and it warmed up, so that the fan kicked it, other than that, it's always at the bottom. THe bike is going back to the dealer this weekend, so they can sort...

Hello, this is my first post on the board as an almost AT owner. I am almost at the point of buying an AT (97 model RD07a, absolutely mint, £2300). I've tried the bike and it is great to ride etc but I have a concern over the oil level and consumption. The previous owner did not check oil...

Relating to a 1988 RD03. I've not done any work to the AT yet. I just got it. I just thought I'd ask those that have lived with their ATs and might have had similar issues. Here's what it's doing: 1) Starting requires full choke for like 5 minutes. If you try to push it in before it's...

Hello all - this is my first post, but I've been following the forum for a year or so. Just bought a 1998 AT in Austria and rode it back to Bosnia via Slovenia and the Croatian coast. Great roads and scenery. My question concerns a ticking/clicking noise that I hear when the clutch is...

I thought I would make use of my time away. I am off to Thailand on thurs for a couple of weeks and the bike is going to be in the garage doing nothing. I have found a local company that are going to powder coat the rims and replace all the spokes with stainless steel and rebuild the wheel. I...

:? Just recentley bought a 03 africa twin, I have noticed that when starting from cold as soon as I pull in the clutch lever I get some rattling down in the clutch housing, this noise goes away when everything is warmed up, is this normal for an africa twin?
