wheels or cr

Hi all, couple XR related questions. Anyone know if its possible to lace a rear XR400R rim to the front hub and would it be any good? I'm not paying £££'s for fancy hubs n rims who's only positive is to shave 10 grammes off the standard wieght or some such. Can I put CR plastics on my 05 XR400R...
