My indicators pack up when it rains. The lights come on but don’t flash. Same whether left or right is selected. All bulbs working ok.
I’m no electrician and wouldn’t know how to use a meter to trace a fault. But given that all four bulbs work, the problem occurs on both sides and the switch...
I'm looking to get some stiffer springs for a project bike (with unknown forks) and it could get expensive if I end up buying lots of different springs & rates new. It's been a little while since I had a Honda Transalp but think they might be suitable, so anyone got any old Transalp fork...
Can anyone advise me as to which silver paint to use on the fork stanchions, should i wire brush them down paint and laquer? or is there any particular paint thats best? or any proven method of doing this job?
So how do you go about choosing a proper size fuse? I received my new 3 circuit setup and would like to get it installed now. One line is going to my gps and another to the rear trunk. is there a rule of thumb to use for figuring things out? Also for the switched circuits can I use a rear turn...
My brake light isn't working with the front brake. I was hoping a quick clean of the connections at the switch would fix it, but no joy. What else is it that might be the problem. I read one thread where a guy had a broken wire. I'm hoping that isn't what's wrong with mine. Brake light works...
This is the air cut off valve cap
Amongst many other things i tried to make sure everything is clean etc
So when I tried to blow through this i thought it could be blocked
Very difficult to blow through so i thought try pushing something through
Tried old fuse wire, nope, tried a pin, nope...
Hi all, my XL250S has started blowing the dip filament as soon as it is turned on. The main beam is fine with no issues.
When I checked with a multimeter I found the white wire has continuity to earth when the lights are switched on.
Has anyone any ideas what might be causing it or what to...
Hi this is going to sound a stupid question but eh!
I have just got a trail tech vapor speedo.
the red and black wires to attach to the ht lead (tachometer)
surely the red wraps round the ht lead and the black to ground surely?
this is not what i am reading in the download version of the manual...
If I wanted to use an earth fed switch (momentary push type) to kill the ignition, which wire do I need to feed the earth to? The standard Domi kill switch just cuts the power to the CDI, but I am trying to simplify the wiring and switches.
I have got most things working following my rebuild.
The only niggling thing I seem to be left with is that the engine will turn over and start when the start button switch is in the off position as well as the on position.
I must have a wire crossed over somewhere, but I have checked...
My headlights stopped working because a wire came loose from the back of the fusebox.(see pic) Probably I can simply stick the wire back where it came from and squeeze the metal clamps tight again. As you can see on the pic the clamps (where the wire should be fitted) are visible in the...
Well with the old Vara now gone I have the following bits available for free
SW motech luggage racks with most the fittings
Crash bars with no fittings
Both are rusty/scratched/dented/very well used
Could be brought back to life with a good wire brush and a tin of Hammerite!
I can't be...
Hi folks, I'm trying to sort the electrics out on my recently acquired 79 plate 250s, mainly the lights and switches. On opening up the right hand switch most of it fell out onto the floor and then when opening up the headlight it was just as bad with so mutch black tape and spliced in...
I'm looking for a few bits and bobs for a 1992 Africa twin that I'm bringing back to life and hopefully going to use on a few Europe trips.
has anybody got some engine bars , headlight protectors (the wire ones) a decent aftermarket seat and any panniers ?

Is there any reason a CDI from and SLR wouldn't run in an FX650?
You'd need to chop the FX CDI plug from the loom and wire in the SLR CDI plug. Then the ignition rotor would need to be changed (the FX on has more pips on it).
I'm sure the TPS is the same on both bikes.
The only casualty I think...
can somebody assist with this please?
got a new oil pressure sensor as the old one didnt look great, but when I degreased the cable from the wiring loom and peered inside
whatever type of connector was in there is snapped off..
when I look at the parts fiche it just seems to be part of the...
I've finally succumbed to a sat nav and am looking at how to wire it into my trusty Transalp (XL700VA).
I'm sure that somewhere on this forum I've seen that there is a spare connector block in the front cowl that can be used as a power source - but can't for the life of me find it now!
