  1. Rewound stator

    XR
Has anyone rewound the stator themselves? My xr250 like all of them it seems has a terribly poor headlight and I was toying with the idea of getting the stator rewound but was also thinking of having a go myself. How hard can it be........ :D
  2. XR400 stator only half wound

    XR
Is that right? I went to fire my bike up while I wait for my V5 to turn up thus tax it. Alas, It wouldn't start, and I noted a small drip of oil on the floor coming from the left cover, so off came the cover, and oil pissed out (didn't know it had a wet ignition) to reveal a hermatite gasket...

Morning. Tyre related question. I'm running a 2003 Vara 1000 on Trail Attacks, as they're supposed to be good. In the dry, fine. In the wet.....not so sure. Africa Twin
I noticed the road signs warning of potholes and slowed down a bit, then bang and I was almost launched. I hadn't seen anything that should have been avoided but I immediately looked behind to see a shower of plastic skating over the tarmac. I stopped and nearly shit myself, both side rear...

  8. Black Isle bimble

    Ride Reports and Pictures
Well, the Black Isle is not really an island, it's a peninsula just across the Moray Firth from me. Went out for a wee blast to roads that I'd never been on before, just goes to show, dozens of small single track roads, some straight as a die for about 1/2 mile, enough to get the old girl wound...
  9. 1990 transalp horn too weak so i changed it for one off a 2002 mitsubish carisma

    Transalp
I found the horn was not up to much so I called to some one who collects scrap cars just to weight them in when he has a load or 2 the crusher truck comes along and makes them look like a big tin or spam . so I whipped the horn off it and the wires leading too it . it didn't cost me anything ...

Good day i have got a question. My V2 1000 has started having the following problem. When you start it up it fire's straight up with the choke on. Then when it ticks over for a few seconds the tone of the engin changes and it dies. Then it does not want to start. It only fires up again with the...
  11. Post-re-build fettling

    Africa Twin
Well, she's now back in one peice - almost - just the pillion foot-pegs to fit but I've ran out of paint so they'll have to wait. I was always a bit annoyed by the crappy/rusty looking 'U' bolt holding the ram-mount I use for the sat-nav. So I made something up from some stuff I had lying...

    Chatter
As some of you are aware my missus had a bad fall in the early hours of Monday morning resulting in a gash to her head, bruising to her arm and worst of all a broken hip. Having found her laying on the floor in a pool of blood and screaming in pain a 999 call was logged. Arrived at A&E and...

    Varadero
Hi folks, I was at the bike show at the NEC last week and picked myself up a nice new replacement screen for my XL1000 from Skidmarx. Now the big question... Has anyone tried replacing their screen before? Is it terribly complicated? With my old Bandit I wound up having to take most of the...

Posting some pictures of a Honda 1989 AX1 that I used to own as there appears to be little information on the site about these bikes. They were a Japan only bike, I think although some were imported into the UK when masses of greys were brought in, I have seen them elsewhere including Malta...

Volunteered myself for a run to the supermarket - as I am currently the least flu affected adult in the house - to top up our Lemsip, Calpol and kids Nurofen supplies. Started off in a good mood, helped a couple of old ladies get a trolley instead of pushing past them to grab one for myself...
