It is with much regret that I have decided to sell my RD03, I am gutted to have to do this but I just can't get on with it :(

I have tried different pegs, bars etc but I just cant get comfortable on it, perhaps I've been riding a KTM for too long??

Anyway, the bike is in much better condition from when I got it as it has been stripped and most parts that were knackered were replaced. The previous owner had already done quite a bit of restoration as well.

The bike is orginally an Italian model so there is no service history but the bike runs fine with no strange engine noises or smoke etc. At some time the speedo has been replaced with a MPH dial (probably from a RD04) so I cannot guarentee the mileage but it currently reads 31,730miles.

If I was keeping this bike long term then eventually I would replace the front wheel rim (the rear has been done recently), repair the dent in the tank and probably do the steering-head bearings then it would be a great example.

It has MOT until 27th September 2011 and the tax until the end of September 2011.

The new parts I have put on this bike are;

Marving silencer
Renthal handlebars
Scott grips
Honda throttle
Honda throttle cables
Honda clutch cable
Honda air filter
IMS copy wide footpegs
NGK spark plugs
Pro-bolt fairing bolts
and at least 30 various fasteners were replaced with Honda items.

I have also replaced the rear brake lever, gear lever, water resevoir bottle, hand-guards and the chain guard with decent s/hand items and the crashbars have been freshly powder-coated.

The previous owner had also replaced all brake pads, chain and sprockets, new rear wheel rim and Metzeler Tourance tyres.

I am asking for £1550 for this bike, the price reflects my puchase price plus the parts I have bought since and I can assure you that I am not making any profit.

cheers, Bob.

It's still available David as Russ has decided to pass as he doesn't want to trash it with off-road riding :D

Thanks Bob,

I'm sorely tempted and it's reminded me of how great an original RD03 looks.

That said I really need to finish what I've started with my RD03, like Russ I'm aiming for something a bit less prone to off-road damage so I think I'll have to pass.

For anyone looking who doesn't know you, I'd have no hesitation buying a bike from this man (I have done before if not this time)!

Cheers
David

I was just about to type that lol...but is this 03 as cute as Alice
Depends on your defintion of 'cute' The RD03's are the best of the @'s IMO as they are the original Twin, but I would never knock 'Alice' as she was (and still is) a great bike.

My first post here...

Wish you were not on the other side of the pond!

I a few weeks ago I bought an '88 XRV 650 here in Costa Rica for more coin than that; and she may not be in as good nick. Fun machine and rich with history, I am getting over my short term KTM fever - pretty much always had at least one in the barn, but downsized recently due to the ex's claim to the homestead... if the 690 only came in an ADV version! (Yeah I know kits are available)
Wish there way an easy affordable way to get your rig to Central America - I am looking at almost that amount of GBP's in goodies alone from Wemoto!
Maybe post your ad on advrider.com ? At least if you other Yank would buy it it would be that much closer ;)
