Is the Africa Twin turning into a BMW GSA with all these bells and whistles to impress your neighbour? The SE model is a joke... ;-)

I think it's all in the way the builders market their bikes.

A few years ago, the liter sport bike was king-of-the-hill for the manufacturers. Those bikes were being bought in greater numbers than any other type.....so all the super-tech, electronics etc got thrown at those machines. ADV type bikes were a way down the pecking order and were not lavished with all the high tech.

Those buying trends have now reversed and the ADV bike had now become the flagship. So everything new gets thrown at them.

It will be interesting to see how these bikes survive 10 or 20 years on or if electrical failures or lack of replacement parts delegates them to the scrap yard.

At this point, for me, the T700 Yamaha wins........now if they'd just bring it across the Pacific.
