Hi all,
Sorry if this has already been discussed.

I need to fit new front and rear tyres on my '88 Transalp. The Honda Manual says the rear tyres should be 120/90-17 on the rear and 90/90-21 on the front. However, most of the sites I've looked at for buying new tyres seem to think I should get a 130/80-17 on the rear. Does anyone have any recommendations on which tyres I should be getting?

I ran 130/80r17 on my Alp no problems - tried both Avon trailriders and Dunlop trailsmarts - both great tyres in my opinion, never had an issue with them (after Avon sorted out their initial production issues).

My friend tried Dunlop trailsmarts 130/80-17. I didn't heard any complaints from him.

600 TA was originally 120/90 17 - it changed to 130/80 17 after a few years (sorry, can't remember exactly when).
These sizes have a virtually identical rolling radius, you can fit either without a problem, tbh I usually fit whichever is cheapest at the time.
