Despite my good intentions of not paying someone to service my AT, since making the decision I've done bugger all about doing it myself. Time to swallow my money and pride and book it in.
Does anyone have a list of the items included in an official Honda 8,000 mile AT service? I want to make sure that whoever I get to do it includes everthing that should be included.
Yep, I knew about this but didn't know if it was the official Honda list (and what I can expect a bike shop to work to) or an exhaustive list compiled by XRV_Jim?
That's very kind of you to offer. I could probably quite easily manage the oil and filter and that sort of stuff, but I don't have a garage and probably not many of the right tools. I also don't think I'm up to the more serious bits like valve clearances and carbs

Hi recently had a 8000m service done but on a TA. Looking at the H-manuel there isn't much difference on what needs to be done. I also have the official Honda 8000m service checklist. I'll PM/mail these to you tonight. I had mine serviced at Chiswick Honda who gave me a courtesy bike for the day and good service. They also gave the bike a gooood clean. I think they won some award for best something Honda bike workshop in UK 2005 and best mechanic something. I had an expensive but good experience. Cost me around 260 quid. I'll probably do the next one myself. The only reason I took it in was for peace of mind and valve clearances. I bought the bike 2nd hand with 900 miles and no service history and had the 8000m service done at 3500miles. Previous owner assured me the first one was done, I wonder!?

They sound better than most. I live in Croydon and work in Central London so Chiswick is a bit out of the way. I hate getting a loan bike because of the excess charge should something happen to the bike - I was bitten once and vowed never to risk it again. So I need somewhere within easy reach by train - I'll probably use Doble's in Coulsdon.
Yep, and like I said - not sure if this is an official Honda list or a list compiled by a forum member. If it's the former then I can reasonably expect whatever bike shop I book it into to work to the list. If it's the latter then my expectations may be too great

Hello
Just had an 8000 miles done at Tippets in Surbiton they worked out £100 cheaper than Dobles and Dobles were totally booked up.
Since they had it The fueling is up the creak
You could try Finns in Redhill - not a main dealer but okay - take a haynes manual and show 'em what you want. Near the station so you could get a train to work
Not much help but at least book dobles for your next 8000 mile service after this one and you should get in
