Any of you Old Timers out there recognise this 1980's XT500 rider setting off along the M3 at the start of a City Link sponsored London to Sydney spin?

What a cool pic

I always had a soft spot for the old XT 500, never owned one but just love the look of them.For me they where the first sort of adventure bikes:D

One of the very first bikes i rode as a kid , was my dad`s , he used to potter around on it on the farm back in good old south africa , nicked it one day , crashed it into the side of a tractor , was only 12 and i blamed it on one of the workers ........sorry dad but yes it was me who did it. :p

That and the XL500 were the best offroad / adventure bikes of their time.:thumbup:

Got me in to big Trailies too loved the noise they made :D

it was a xt550 that got me hooked on big trailies
