I got a cigar lighter socket to run the charger/power supply for my satnav/gps. . . . I'm guessing the centre is wired to positive and the outer/body wired to negative.

Can someone confirm this.?

Got an in-line fuse to put in, . . . small amperage fuse for gps i'm guessing, but i may want to run a tyre compressor at some point. . . . so what fuse.?

Yep +12 in the centre 0v or ground on the outer. 5A is certainly enough for most things such as satnavs but some compressors like a little more when they are working really hard at the higher pressures so take a spare 10A (I used to tape it to the frame somewhere) one should you need it.
