I did that a few weeks back when the GS was starting to feel a bit ratty and uneven, and shifting became rough. (Or at least, noticeably rough. It'd been sneaking in there for a while.)

Hook up the twinmax, idle was okay, but the merest blip off idle had the left pot pulling a lot more than the right. Quickly remedied, and that fixed a whole lot of little niggles, including the rough shifting. And now it'll pull from 1500 rpm again. :mrgreen:

I checked my tappets and then balanced the carbs 6000 miles ago and the bike still ticks over just around the 1100 rpm mark, the bike feels smooth and is a joy.
