Trying to work out if my battery is just rubbish or if I have other electrical issues, have been reading the threads but not yet sure if the is the issue.
I found if I leave the bike a few weeks it will usually start ok and even after only a short ride will start fine next time, but if you go for a decent ride of more than a couple of hours and you switch it off then try to start it again the battery will not turn the engine over, the lights still go but it just doesn't have to juice to turn it over, I've run with just 1 low beam and with both low beams running and it seems to be more often when both are running but has done it with just 1, which kind of makes me lean towards an average battery.
It did it too me the other day after 2-3 hour ride, I switched it off and then tried to start it 2 minutes later and it wouldn't even crank, I bump started it and turned off the lights then rode about 20mins home, went out into the garage today and turned on the lights which were strong and bright, hit the starter and it fired first crank, the battery is just a cheap one that was in it when I got it and I'm thinking it just can't handle the draw of the lights and charge enough to fire it after a long ride.
I haven't checked the reg output as need to get a new multimeter but do I chuck a decent Yasua battery in it and risk that the reg or something else is going to cook the battery?
So grab your crystal ball and clean the greasy finger prints off and let me know if you think its sounds like the battery is just cheap ass rubbish.
