Where is the best place to purchase Tourance Tyres? I'd like a place that is well priced and has the tyres in stock for immediate delivery? Searched hi and low and can't seem to find anywhere decent looking?

Cheers

I used moto-tyres.co.uk the other day.

Tyre ordered Sunday arrived Wednesday and it came from Germany at that.
Agree, I have used them for over 6 years now, good service and very competitive.

UPDATE:

Went onto the Mytyres website and have ordered;

1x Metzeler Tourance 90/90/21 54H
1x Metzeler Tourance 140/80/R17 69H
1x Front Innertube
1x Rear Innertube
1x Front Rimtape
1x Rear Rimtape.

I did call around local bike shops. One has just called to say she spoke to Metzeler and they currently dont have any Tourance in stock. They are currently in production and the lead time is about 4 weeks. So I'm hoping that the company I've just ordered them from has some in stock otherwise I'm going to be waiting quite a while!!!!

Hello Tramp,

The website didn't say that they had anything in stock, apart from they will take payment when the goods have left their warehouse.

Yeah i will most probably do the job myself and save £60. I've changed dozens of tyres in the past by hand, but that was over 10 years ago. Need to get some decent tyre spoons. Got a tyre bay at work so can "borrow" some tyre soap etc. The rims have been Powder Coated, so I don't know whether they will have been done inside or not? Don't worry mate, I've got OCD when it comes to cleaning stuff up, thats why it takes me three times as long to do anything. I will get some Rubber Grease from work when I do the job, don't want to use "normal" grease otherwise it will rot the rubber.

Thanks for the advice mate!!

I'm going to try to fit tourances myself this evening, but the sidewalls seem very stiff, and I don't have any tire grease, so this might not work out as I hope :)

As Angelo says, a bit of soap and water. Also, bring the tyre into a warm room well before you want to fit it.

UPDATE:

I hope someone will come along and put my mind at rest, but at the moment I'm steaming...

I went on the companys website that was recommended and ordered the items listed in my previous post. I received an email from them today confirming my order and that the goods have been dispatched.......Goods??? Try singular. The have confirmed the order for the rear tyre and that is it. The order conformation email they sent me clearly listed the two tyres, two inner tubes and two rim tapes, all with seperate order numbers etc at the time of order.

Now today I get an email suggesting they have only sent out the rear tyre and thats a 10 day delivery time. Now I don't know whether they are going to send out the rest of the stuff I ordered, whether they got all the order even though their email said they did. I have sent them an email asking what is going on. If they do have the whole order but are just charging me for the rear as the other stuff is out of stock then I've told them I need to know as I will order the rest from somewhere else. I've clicked the "order" button for £215 and they are sending out £92 worth of goods. Now I'm going to have to keep checking my bank account like a hawk.

I bloody hate ordering stuff online as it never works out the way it should. I think next time I will order at a bike shop and just pay the extra knowing I wont part with any cash until the tyres are in my hands. I need to replace the tyres ASAP and its no good farting around sending email after email to sort things out. Hopefully the rest of the stuff will follow soon!!!!

well, I don't know the shop you ordered from, but I order many things online as I find it convenient, and from my experience, it sounds like each tire might be shipped separately, if they get them in stock separately (since you say you got a separate order nr for each tire, this is similar to where I get my tires from, pneusonline.be, part of the delti group, maybe they're related? mytires.co.uk is part of the delti group, I think you ordered there?)
if you order online, it's always a good idea to do so well in advance, like 2-3 weeks ahead of time. for some shops one week ahead is enough but you never know when the stuff gets delayed for some reason... not that that helps you right now...

but to end on a good note, the tires I ordered last time, a slick racing front tire for my ktm, and a tourance rear and a tourance front for my honda, were all delivered in less than 2 weeks, in two batches (that arrived on the same day). this was just in time, since I needed the racing slick for a trackday :)

oh yeah, they use GLS to deliver, who can be a bit difficult to get your stuff from when you're not home. I missed one or two deliveries, and worked from home to be able to receive their last attempt, all in those two weeks.

Thanks for the reply LethPhaos,

Yeah they are part of the Delti group. Were you charged seperately for the different items? They have only charged for the rear tyre, but haven't told me if or when the other items are to be sent. So now I'm left wondering whether they are only going to send the rear tyre or whether the other items will be billed and sent later. The courier is DPD in my case. They have a depot just down the road but I'm having them sent to my friends work as I know there will be someone there to sign for them.

Just annoys me that there is no communication. The email they sent on receipt of my order clearly states the 6 items, so they must know I've ordered more than the rear tyre. All they have to do is inform me that the other items will be sent at a later date. I don't know whether their ordering system has failed or what. I will wait for their email to see whats happening.

Apparently Metzeler haven't got any Tourance in stock and they are in production, which could mean a 4 week wait. If they couldn't supply the tyres for immediate delivery I would have gone for something else, but they don't state stock levels on their system....

I used visa to pay and didn't get the receipt yet, so no idea if I was charged separately...
As they are the biggest tire retail (I know off) in Europe, I suppose they'd have tourances in stock, but you never know...

I was worried too, since I needed the racing slick, so I emailed them as well, and got a response within one or two working days. I hope they'll probably, hopefully, put your mind at easy pretty soon :)

i've used them 6/7 times, never had an issue, normally arrive in 5-7 days. In fact, last time i used tracking, the tyres left germany & were in england 24hrs later. Depot near birmingham, the UK courier then send them down to cornwall for 4days before returning them to birmingham, only to be delivered up north the next day. uk... eh?
