My dommie’s tail light failed on the way home last night. The first clue was when a trucker flashed his lights at me after I passed him on the M25. A couple of others flashed but it’s remarkable how many of my fellow motorists didn’t!

Also remarkable what a faff it is to get to the bulb. Both side panels off, seat off, luggage rack off to wiggle the tail unit up and over the light housing. It doesn’t help that my light housing is held on with cable ties and gaffer tape, the retaining lugs having snapped a long time ago.

Luckily I’ve had plenty of practice on this operation over the years, and a spare bulb at home, so it didn’t take long...

Hmmm twice in a week now. Either I’m very unlucky with a bad batch of bulbs or there’s a charging issue.

A poor earth connection can be another reason for bulbs blowing check cable connections and the bulb holder is not going rusty
