hi guys got on bike today started it and it would not drop below 3000 revs checked all cables looked ok but could hear a sucking noise from carbs have the rubbers perished and would this cause the reving thanks

shouldn`t think so......if rubbers are perished / split then it would run lean and stall if any ( i think ):D

check cable routeing, adjust tickover screwdriver, balance carbs

Sucking noise from a carb... whatever next... ;)

Good advice from both subsequent posters :thumbup:

Also add to it a faulty needle valve, which will increase the petrol height in the carb. Drain the carbs, grab some carb cleaner and spray it down the fuel pipe and jets..

Running weak can increase revs, but important thing is that this has suddenly happened. As mentioned, check cable routing and that inlet stub or connection to airbox hasn't opened.
