Good evening fellow headbins,

I have a 650 alp (which I love), the centre stand is a real pig to move, it takes a lump hammer and curse word to move it. I'm tired of it not working. So today I cut the end of the centre shaft thinking I'd be able to hammer it out (each end had be battered by previous owner), I tried 3/4'' extension bars, driving a bolt into the shaft and battering it. Ended up calling the shaft bad names and put the alp away for another day.

Has anyone any words of wisdom on how to free the shaft? Don't want it to taint my love for the bike any more

Thanks

Jonathan

You are going to have to get some releasing agent into it somehow, either that or saw it off up against the inside of the mounting lugs then you can chuck the stand in a bath of diesel and let it soak as long as it takes before drifting the pin out. Its got to be the first thing that will seize on most bikes, preventitive maintenance got to keep it lubed.
