I replaced my clutch plates recently on the Transalp 650 `05
and posted about last month
Its done big kms - 106,000
First off springs were on backorder so with a trip planned I just went for the plates
and it seemed to be ok - if not overly smooth in that there was little feedback
Springs turned up finally last week so all was stripped again and said springs replaced
Honda 22401-ML3-910 x 4 !
Now Im noticing a crunch as I select 1st gear !
Clutch cable is fine and adjustment per the book !
Have I missed something ?
Adjusted something more or less ?
Oil was changed as well - Spectro Golden 10/40 - 2.5 lts
In the book it shows no ball bearing or similar behind or in front of actuator stub/shaft
( where it meets the clutch plate bearing )
Should there be ?
We are looking to head off again for 3 days so any advice appreciated
Many thanks
Gaz
Almost seems that its not engaging fully ?

All sorted now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Found a major flaw in the Transalp clutch design when aligning and centering basket
on the spigot spline
This error could effect hundreds if not more Alps when done the way the BOOK tells you ! :D
Thanks for ALL the Help and REPLYS :D

I too had troubles like you describe. What was your problem? I did not offset the last plate, so it was not disengaging. I did it again, offsetting the plate. The clutch does not "clunk " anymore. I put the basket on several times, trying to make sure it was all lined up and on far enough. I guess it is okay, the clutch does work, although engagement is not as smooth as original.
