hi all.im gonna change the oil in my forks but in the book it does'nt tell me the oil weight.has anyone got any ideas.it also says that each leg takes 522cc of oil.forgive my stupidity but is this just over 1/2 a litre per leg?(sounds a lot,but thats what the bok says)cheers all
Transmission fluid generally refers to Automatic transmission fluid or ATF.
Back when these bikes came out ATF was used for lots of things, these days fork oils can be got in all different weights.
I used half 10w and half 5w fork oils in mine. 522ml per leg.
10w feels ok on the road and better than ATF off road but the off road is sh1te with them anyway my forks need work doing to them
I think it might be a try and see for yourself as we all like our bikes to ride the way we want them to if you know what i mean
I use a 50/50 mix of 10W and 15W, giving a 12.5W
It (to me anyway) is the perfect compromise between on and off road. If you stick to the tarmac then I'd possibly go for 15W for best damping.
Thats what the workshop manual specifies for the NX650.
