From the Midlands to Malta

May, 2013. Somewhere in the Midlands.

Briefly, GPz900r and TA, in the garden together, happily.

900's keys handed over to Mr.999RECOVERY.

13:32 - 16th May ...

... M1, heading south with bulging panniers, paused for some adjustment.

Dover. 18:03, awaiting the 18:35 ferry to Calais.

Dover. 18:04, waiting patiently in line.

18:18. About to set sail for foreign parts and adventure ...

TA safely secured aboard new P&O ferry.

TA, still there where I left it last night.

11:00

Sorry to say the weather on the continent is the same as the UK for 5 days more.

As you don't seem to be camping, you might want to use Formule 1 motels in France, around 32 euros a night, the lower price range acc. You'll see the ad boards as you enter towns. Then you can pick up their booklet with all the F1s. If you're not cooking for yourself either, as you come across the larger supermarkets you'll usually find restos there such as Flunch etc. Good food at reasonable prices,(6 -8 euros) between 12 and 13.30 - not open all day. Park the bike outside to watch thru the window.

S/station pieces in a plastic box - 4-5 euros. :(
Chicken, chips and 4 different veg on a plate in a resto, 6 euros.

Each to his own...;)
4-5 Euro's for sandwiches what gas stations are you shopping in ? :p
Travelled from the Netherlands through Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Lichtenstein and back, last year and never paid near that price.

Tunnel vision 2.
Emerge from the southern end of the Mt. Blanc tunnel, into Italy and a cold grey downpour, that has no end as I progress along the Aosta valley and onto the flatlands beyond.

E25 (A4/A5) fuel stop.

Un-aerodynamic top box and panniers. battling against blustery headwind and constant rain.

18:00 Hours. Sanctuary.
Out of the pouring rain, a room for the night at The Business Hotel (Bless You, warm dry hotel, bless you ...), Casale Monferrato.

Anti-pasta pesci platter yum, yum, yum ...

I'm so pro this V.tasty calamari pasta, that I'm almost at the point of bursting, eating so much of its deliciousness …
